    “I love you too, Jinx,” he responds after a moment, brows furrowed.

    She shakes her head, squeezing her eyes shut as she resists the urge to just runrunrun. “No, I- I love you.” She figures that she may as well come clean about everything, since she’s about to ruin her relationship with her adoptive father forever. “And, I…I love your hands. Too much.” Her voice trails off towards the end, weak and small and nearly imperceptible.
