Work Text:

So this wasn't exactly new, or even strange, Hubert's Sire wasn't exactly known for his love of hard work.

But nonetheless, Hubert had the job of taking care of Sir Billiam, and he would.

The RanButler (Hubert always found the way the kid had gotten basically stolen from his parents, and not given a name, rather cruel, so he had given him a name, and nickname of his own) had come crying to him to find Billiam, and get him to actually finish his paperwork.

They technically, should split up all responsibilities permating to their Sire, and technically, it should have been Ran's turn to do this forever ago, but Hubert didn't mind.

The kid thanked him too much for doing a job, he genuinely liked doing.

He sighed, as he walked along the garden, red roses, blue roses, white roses, and black roses.

If anybody was going to know where Billiam was at, it was going to be him.

"Sire! It isn't time to play hide and seek. You should leave that to Ran, don't you think?" Hubert said in a sing along.

Taking a turn on their huge garden, Hubert could walk through here forever.

Forever tending to their beautiful roses.

A faithful servant accepted everything about their vocation, like a prisoner called a prison his own.

He entered the kiosco, placing one black gloved hand on top of his mouth, as he laughed quietly.

There he was, his Sir Billiam, reading an old story book, twirling a rose in his hands.

Red blood like petals dripping.

"How dare you laugh, peasant?" Billiam raised his eyes from the book, to Hubert, only to him.

Hubert did understand why Ran was so easily anxious of Billiam, more so, in moments like this, but Hubert had known him far too long like to still be affected.

Hubert walked closer to him, languid careful steps, like a cat, his butler outfit was far more expensive than the rest of the servitude, handpicked by their lord himself.

"O you must please spare me, but to my best recollection, the Sire is supposed to be finishing his paperwork at this hour" Hubert touched one of the petals on Billiam's hand, almost grazing his skin.

It was plain evening, a golden orange glow overtaking everything, warm and content, Hubert wouldn't mind slacking off himself, sitting around smelling roses, but he knew better.

"Augh, can't you do it, Hubert?" Billiam rolled his eyes. He hated how devoted to their work Hubert was, but only sometimes.

"I don't know how much my sign will be taken into consideration, by the big important bourgeoisie, so..."

Another petal torn.

"Falsify it, you know how. If they complain, we can pay them to shut up" Billiam reached out for him, drawing him closer, wrapping both his hands around Hubert's waist, only delicate for now, there were times in which he grabbed him with enough strenght to bruise.

Hubert held him closer, burying Billiam's face on his chest "Always so audacious, My Sire" Hubert shook his head from side to side, sighing, it was rather amusing, this little petty side of his.

"Eh? What exactly are you implying, Hubert?"

"Fufufu, nothing much, Sire~" Hubert trailed his hands down to Billiam's shoulders, touching the expensive material, and golden adornments, they didn't amaze him any longer, every morning he would awake at 5 o'clock to pick up his Sire's outfit after all, had been doing it for as long as he could remember now.

The birds, and wind mixed together, making a hollow noise around them, swishing the careful leaves around.

"Commoner dead skin" Even Ran had grown accustomed to Billiam's crude words, because he never actually followed through with any of his threats, Billiam wasn't completely dead hearted after all.

It only made Hubert squish his eyes a little as he smiled, lines showing themselves on his face.

Dimples freckles and marks, a perpetual smiley face, Hubert acted way too carefree for somebody this overloaded with work, every single day.

"I know, I know, how dare I exist, with my name, and my favoritism by the Sire?" He placed one hand on top of his chest, making sure not to cause any wrinkles on his tie, his hands were calloused, and his body formed by huge amounts of manual labour.

"Being favored over Butler isn't all that grandly difficult, Hubert" Billiam said, tracing a long nail over a petal, breaking it like an artery underneath a scalpel.

"Aww, you think Ran is the only other help we have, you always got the kid beside you."

They had halfway raised the kid together; it was only natural.

Billiam winced audibly, his expression immediately changing, mouth open like he didn't know what to say.

"I should execute you for this!"

"But you won't!" Hubert shrugged, a cocky wide grin stretching his face, the white hair encompassing his portrait, Billiam would grab it and twirl it like a toy sometimes "But if you really want to then you need to issue the proper paperwork first, which must be buried underneath all the paperwork you haven't done, Sire. So..."

Hubert stood up, both hands grabbing Billiam's worst, feeling it even underneath all the fancy fabric that would cost the same as his life.

"You better get to working, if you want to schedule my execution it needs to be by next Sunday, because this Saturday, I gotta work."

Billiam made a grimace, biting the inside of his mouth, but he held back as he stood up from the marble silver bench.

"...I hate you, Hubert."

Looking at the ground, Hubert smiled mischievously, he was always easy to read, but only to him.

"Awwwww! I love you too, Sire!"

"Butler!"

Later on, Hubert hands him a warm cup of chocolate with one spoon of milk, and half a spoon of sugar, with just one touch of vanilla, and a drip of honey, on an expensive little dainty tea cup, to pretend to be fancier than it was.

As Billiam yawns, and fights to keep himself from falling asleep on the table, and finally finish the pent up work.

The way the moon reflects off Hubert's weird mix between grey, and green eyes, is enough to keep Billiam awake a little while longer.

Thank you Karl Jacobs for canonizing the fact that Billiam gets bitches (Hubert)
