Work Text:
The morning was the same as any other day. Wake up, get dressed, eat breakfast, review the circus schedule. A familiar rhythm that Gaster had fallen into.
Unfortunately, something about today felt wrong. Gaster couldn't place it, really. It was just a feeling in his SOUL that rumbled and bubbled. He didn't feel... bad, everything only felt off, like the world was holding it's breath in anticipation for something big.
But that's preposterous!
Gaster could only brush off the thought. Today wouldn't be any different, and nothing was going to change.
______
(The show was spectacular, as always. Gaster may have been exhausted, but he still felt the high of such a successful performance. He wandered outside of the circus bounds, feeling like someone was tugging his SOUL along. Could someone be in his AU?)
It was night, and Aster stood outside a small troupe-town. He stared up at the stars, wondering. Was this sky the same as his? Who else was looking up at these stars, who else could be wondering?
But most importantly, he wondered where he was.
The lights in the distance told of a circus, but there were no circuses near his tower, there weren't any back home either.
(Gaster stumbled onto a grass field, the blades swaying in a soft breeze. Finally, the feeling in his SOUL lessened, settling for a dull thrum. There was someone in the field, staring at the sky like it was the only thing in the world. He stepped forward—)
Someone cleared their throat behind him, interrupting his thoughts. Aster whirled around, quick to see who was there.
He didn't know what he expected, but what he found certainly wasn't in his mind.
