Work Text:
Aster paced in the shared kitchen, his tail flocking and twitching in beat with every step, his wings snapping outward before reeling back.
A knocking on the doorway brought Aster out of his silent fuming. Of course it was Gaster, and of course he'd noticed. His husband's caring nature softened the anger slightly. Key word: slightly.
"Dear?" Aster stopped pacing, clenching and unclenching his fists instead. He looked at his wonderful husband. "My love, you're going to wear a groove in the floor if you keep this up. What's wrong?"
Aster's tail lashed again, hard enough to wack into the cabinets and leave scratches. Gaster, alarmed, rushed to his side, pulling him into an embrace and trying to stop Aster from harming anything else, or himself.
The distressed skeleton melted into Gaster's embrace, stilling his anxious movements.
"Please tell me what's wrong. I cannot help if I don't know."
Aster leaned out of the hug, mumbling. "I broke my favorite mug..."
Gaster tried not to laugh, he really did. Unfortunately he failed, and eventually collapsed into giggles.
Aster bristled. "Don't laugh at me! You know how much I loved that mug!"
Eventually, Gaster composed himself. "Dear, we can fix it ourselves, or invite Ink over for some help."
Immediately, Aster's wings and tail went limp. "...Oh." Was all he said before also dissolving into laughter.
"Now," Gaster took his husband's hands in his when the other finally quieted down. "Where are the shards? We can put them aside until we're able to fix your mug."
Aster, glaced to the corner of the kitchen where the coffee machine lived, his tail flicking towards the pile of shattered porcelain.
Gaster tugged Aster up to the mess, leaning down and picking up fragments. He set the gathered remnants of the mug on the counter before turning around and pecking his husband on the lips.
"Don't worry, you're mug will be as good as new in no time."
