Chapter 1: Prologue
The table was a mess, filled with stacks of paper, empty water bottles, and coffee. The blonde sleep-deprived teen sighed as he prepared to write the 5th essay for the night. Not for his classes though, of course. It’s more of a “business practice” as these essays are for his peers who pay him handsomely. Well, peers is a generous term. The blonde scientist in the room would like to argue that they aren’t on the same level as him. Not like it matters though. His brother is the true genius here anyway.
A brown-haired boy walked in his room, pretty energized. He had purple highlights in his medium-length hair and round glasses on his face. His skin was tanned and was about 2 inches shorter than his blonde roommate. Despite his short appearance, he was 3 years older, making him 21. Kusuke sighed and rubbed his eyes.
“What is it, Alexander?” Kusuke asked annoyed. Alexander huffed and leaned back on the wall.
“Someone’s moody today,” he scoffed in response, “ I was just here because Professor Bourgeois requested I give you this.”
“What is this?” The file he was handed had the words “Graduate-Freshman program” on it and a flash drive attached to it.
“Papers about the Graduate-Freshman Program. You were recommended to take part in the Japanese student-exchange program and mentor a high schooler planning to go here.”
“Hard pass,” Kusuke said rolling his eyes about to toss the file away.
“Hold up, it’s not up to you. You have no choice in the matter,” Alex replied, crossing his arms.
“And why’s that?”
“The New Alumni Association’s advisor already signed you up for it.” Kusuke narrowed his eyes and scowled in realization. Alex was the advisor.
“Why the hell did you sign me up? …Are you still mad that I stole your #1 ranking?” Kusuke asked, smirking.
“I couldn’t care less.”
“That’s a lie.”
“Whatever. I signed you up because it would be good for you, Kusuke,” Alex said somewhat seriously.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“Well, for starters I’m your only actual social interaction.”
“Class counts.”
“And I’m worried about you. When was the last time you actually slept?” Kusuke scoffed at this.
“Who needs sleep when you have coffee and cold showers to keep you awake?” Alex glared at Kusuke as he said this.
“No amount of reasoning will make me change my mind. Look over those files, will you? “ Alex said before exiting the room to make a cup of coffee. Kusuke sighed and stared at the file before him. Sighing in defeat he opened it to see he was already assigned a student from PK Academy. Hold up, PK Academy.
Kusuo goes there. It would be interesting if this student is a classmate of his, Kusuke thought.
In the other room, Alexander felt anxious. He was at the very least grateful, Kusuke had dropped the nice guy facade a while ago though, in the end, he genuinely wished he was as nonchalant and nice as he came off to be. Instead, he was a depressing, lonely guy. Hell, Alex only realized because he saw his arms accidentally after all. If he hadn’t, he would have honestly written him off as an asshole. But he wasn’t. Maybe meeting someone in his age range and making a friend will help him.

Back at PK Academy, a red-headed boy was surprisingly panicking for once at the front gate. Saiki, who was passing by, sighed. He could walk past and ignore him, but it could get worse if he does. If anything, he is also somewhat curious himself. Hairo’s thoughts were so frazzled that they were hard to understand.
“Are you okay?” Saiki said, staring blankly at the boy. Hairo sighed in relief.
“Saiki-san! Thank goodness you’re here! When you see Y/N-chan, can you give her this key? She’s supposed to tour the new kid today and she’s late! I’ll owe you, Saiki.” And just like that, Hairo was off. Good grief.
Saiki had the luck of having to wait for the person he usually avoids today. There’s nothing in particular wrong with Y/N Choi. She’s kind, smart, and popular. Hell, most people refer to her by her first name. Well while popularity is one of the reasons why he wants to avoid her, it’s not the main one. The problem is, he can barely use any of his abilities on her. Not only that, but the girl is a downright genius. If anyone can figure Saiki out it was her.
He must avoid her at all costs.
