For a split second, Ladybug followed ShadowMoth with her eyes as he fled across the roofs of Paris. It would be so easy to chase him down, to finally end it all. But this was not the right moment.
Without wasting another second, she crouched down and placed a hand on Chat Noir’s shoulder. He was on his knees, trembling as he gazed with unseeing eyes at the ground and didn’t react, not to her touch and not to Viperion already having an arm around his back.
After sharing a concerned look across Chat Noir’s back, Viperion gave her a small encouraging nod.
“Chaton?”
Chat shook, leaning slightly more against them both.
Ladybug sighed and leaned her head against his, her free arm around his chest.
“I’m so sorry,” she murmured.
Slowly, Chat stirred. Leaning more heavily against Viperion’s chest, he looked up at them with empty eyes. “I didn’t want it to be true.” His voice sounded empty, too. Too numb to feel anything.
Viperion’s arms around him tightened, holding him closer. “It’s okay,” he murmured. “Take your time. And remember, we’re here for you. Always.”
“Yeah.” Ladybug scooted closer until they were entangled in a tight embrace as three, with Chat in the middle. “No matter what your father is doing, or why; you’re not alone. You have us, no matter what.”
Chat gave a small grunt, then leaned even more into them, soaking in the warmth of Viperion all around him and the scent of Ladybug’s hair. And slowly, he grew calmer. His breathing slowed down, the trembling stopped, and before long, the all but desperate sense with which he clung to them vanished, too.
“Thanks,” he said, his voice rough with emotions now. “I… it… It’ll be okay. My father was never- This didn’t even surprise me. Him being… being HawkMoth, and all. But actually seeing it…”
He trailed off, and Ladybug brought her hand to his face, cupping his cheek, and smiled when he leaned into her touch. Leaning in, she brushed a light kiss over his lips, still exhilarated at how naturally this came to them now. And judging by the look he gave her when she pulled back, he felt the same. He pulled her back against him, just as he craned his neck to find Viperion’s lips with his own.
“I know we’re in this together,” he sighed. “Thanks for the reminder.”
