It was a busy day for the Blooming Panic server. According to Quest, there has never been so many new members at once.
There was LovelyLola, Azura, wintersol, and you, USUI.
Azura and wintersol, you've yet to meet. nightowl and June mentioned catching them online in the afternoon.
You logged in around the same time LovelyLola did, allowing for introductions. It turns out you both stayed out late, similar to nightowl.
NakedToaster: So since you're not going to sleep yet
what do you think of Damien?

USUI: I find him well-written
NakedToaster: Oh?
LovelyLola: Interesting
USUI: He has clear and consistent motivations. Even though he grows later on, it's not a jarring instant change
NakedToaster: Define instant change
USUI: Well, there are some TV shows where antagonists become unconditionally nicer in episodes that are aired towards Christmas time.
Regardless of everything else in the plot, no matter how terrible they've been just episodes prior, they'll suddenly be sentimental, ask for forgiveness... and obtain it AND reconciliation.
Like the characters they've spent much of the season antagonizing just.

the writer didn't force Damien to fit a mould, a theme, a message, or a plot

After a few moments, the server started chatting about LovelyLola's love life. Or rather, their superficial ex.
Realizing how it must have felt for LovelyLola, nightowl profusely apologized, while the server profusely teased him. LovelyLola is an angel, though, and nightowl asked them for a video call as the others began logging off.
NakedToaster: That's weird. Usually new server members get a welcoming video call
USUI: Wait, we do?
NakedToaster: Uh-huh. I don't mind giving you one, but if you'd rather wait for nightowl, you can
USUI: Oh, I'm good
I mean, I wasn't really expecting some welcome or anything.
Just wanted to check out the server

I mean, it was a critical time for Lola, but motivation wise
