Work Text:
“Woah, it’s raining really hard out there.” Keith mutters, upon opening his and Pico’s blinds.
Pico looks up from his book to see that he’s right; the rain outside is practically pounding on their window. And everything else beyond it, for that matter.
Nevertheless, he shrugs his shoulders, “it’ll clear.”
Keith nods, “It will.. but still, it’s kinda wild.”
He then slinks his way back to bed, cuddling up at Pico’s side.
“Huh, that’s funny.”
“Eh? What is?”
“The fact that you’ve fought against literal demons and shit, and yet the one thing you’re worried about is a lil hard rain.” Pico scoffs, eliciting a pout from his boyfriend.
“Oi! With hard rain comes even harder thunder, and I do not wanna deal with—“
Almost as if on cue, the loud sound of thunder resounds just outside the house, a bright light temporarily flashing through the window.
Keith lets out an incredibly girlish squeal, before ducking underneath the covers.
Pico stares blankly at the window, before turning to flash the same look at the shivering lump beside him.
“…You alright?”
Keith responds with a mere whimper. Pico sighs and closes his book, before wrapping an arm around his shivering boyfriend.
It takes a few seconds before Keith questioningly peeks his head out from underneath the sheets.
In the back of his mind, Pico can’t help but relate the image to that of a puppy.
“What are you—?”
“You’re scared, ain’t you? I’ll hold you here until the storm blows over.”
A brief silence falls between the two. The longer it drags, the more heat Pico feels within his cheeks, so he turns his head away.
Keith smirks.
“I didn’t even know you had compassion in that ice cold heart of yours.” He comments, causing Pico to choke on his saliva.
“Shut the hell up before I lock you outside.” He growls. Keith lets out a laugh, and snuggles even closer to him.
“Alright, alright!” He smiles, “thanks Pico.”
Pico huffs, nuzzling into the fluff that is Keith’s hair.
“Whatever, just stay close.”
