Summary:

Arakita doesn't really know how to dance. Toudou tries to teach him.

Notes:

Hey kids it's aratou time

Work Text:

Arakita's peaceful Friday afternoon nap was interrupted by somebody banging his dorm room door with a fist.

"Arakita! You sure you won't be going to the party tonight? Everybody is going!" Toudou whined. "Open the door!"

The banging wouldn't stop. Arakita groaned and got up from bed, ready to slam the door on Toudou's face.

"The fuck is wrong with you? Stop making so much noise in the middle of the hallway!"

"Oh, you were in there after all. Well, are you going to the party or not?" Toudou squeezed himself past Arakita to his room.

Arakita slumped back on his bed. "Hell no! I'm exhausted and I haven't even started working on my homework yet. I'm not going to any shitty parties!"

Hakogaku was having a school dance, an ending for their charity week, (to collect money for building a school for poor and starving kids in Africa or something, Arakita didn't really care about the details.)

"Come on, it's not that bad! Sure it is more formal than usual but I'm sure it will be fun! Let's just study at the restaurant on Sunday like usual."

"It's just people dancing, I doubt anybody is even going to smuggle alcohol in there, since there are teachers sniffing around. A total waste of time," Arakita huffed.

"But dancing is the best part! Just think about the girls and their low-cut dresses! With a little bit of luck you'll have a free excuse to touch them! And then you might get even more lucky later," Toudou grinned, wiggling his eyebrows.

Arakita grimaced at his choice of words. Suggestiveness didn't suit Toudou at all.

He considered his options; if headache had a human form, it would be Toudou, so he needed a solid excuse. Or he could just tell the truth but he wasn't sure at all would that help to get rid of him. To be honest, the thought about jiggling breasts was an enthralling one, and he wasn't sure if he really wanted to miss all that.

"I don't even know how to dance!" Arakita finally admitted, arms in crossed in defence. "So get out, I'm not going."

Toudou made no sign of leaving, but looked Arakita  from head to toe, investigating. "Yeah, I can kinda see how you've lived 18 years of your life without knowing how to dance. No wonder girls won't come at you."

"Oi, that's insulting, you ass! I've had way more girls than you!" Arakita was sure of that, he'd never seen Toudou with a girl, and the guy had a fanclub, for fuck's sake.

"As if you never insult me!" Toudou countered. "But you know, I can teach you how to dance if you really want to come? Let's put on some music!" Before Arakita had a chance to reply, Toudou was already digging through a pile of old CD's laying on top of his messy desk.

"Ooh, I can't believe you own something else than Linkin Park and Fall Out Boy! Honestly I didn't peg you as a Britney fan, though," Toudou sniggered, waving around Britney Spears' Greatest Hits CD he had on his hand.

"Oh shut the hell up, Toudou!" Arakita blushed, it was even his CD, but his sister's, he'd just... borrowed it the last time he visited home.

"Just kidding, Britney is cool," Toudou admitted and popped the CD into the stereo. He read the backside of the case, skipped a few tracks before finding the one he liked and turned the volume up.

"Okay, let's do this! Get up!" Toudou insisted, dragging Arakita off his bed by the hand.

Arakita stood up, shaking Toudou's hand off, but immediately froze after realizing he had absolutely no idea what to do. "So? How do I move?"

I'll show you some nice moves, just watch first!" Toudou moved into middle of Arakita's room, looking like he could barely contain his excitement. He was way too into this.

"Just like this!" Toudou started dancing. He moved his body almost exactly like Britney did on the music video, making sexy little hip twists, pushing his hair back flirtatiously. Arakita couldn't help but stand still and stare, mesmerized by the performance. He never knew Toudou was such a great dancer.

The song ended and Toudou stopped to take a breath. Arakita finally found his voice, snapping out of his trance.

"You can't be serious... Normal guys don't dance like that! What are you, a stripper?!" he yelled, hoping that Toudou would be insulted enough not to notice how impressed (and slightly flustered) Arakita actually was.

"I just had to show off a little bit because I'm better and prettier than you!" Toudou bragged. "Come on, dance with me now. All you need to do is follow the rhythm and move your feet a little bit, like this," he demonstrated, making simple side-to-side steps to the beat.

Arakita tried to copy him but he had a feeling he looked absolutely ridiculous. His movements were nowhere near as smooth as Toudou's who made it all seem so effortless. Even if dancing probably wasn't some sort of mystical art, to him it felt completely unnatural. His legs were made for cycling, not dancing, dammit!

He cursed loudly when he nearly tripped on his feet when after while Toudou got more into his dancing and took a hold of Arakita's hand, trying to spin him around.

"Stop looking at your feet! Damn, you really are bad at this."

"You're just a shitty teacher!"

Toudou chose to ignore his rude comment. "Don't worry, I'm sure I can introduce to some girls desperate enough to dance even with you- Ow!" Arakita elbowed Toudou in the ribs.

The song changed into a slower one, a nice soft ballad. Arakita groaned, deciding that now that he had agreed to this shit, he was going to go through all of it. Maybe Toudou's lessons proved to be helpful later, even if he'd never admit that.

"Okay, what about slow dancing? That's when you get to feel the boobs against your chest, so isn't it important?"

"It's even easier! You don't really have to move your feet, you just hold the girl and sway," Toudou informed him. Well, that didn't sound too bad.

"Where exactly do I hold her? Do I just grab her ass?" Arakita asked. Toudou shook his head, then promptly moved closer to Arakita and grabbed his waist.

"There are a few places you can put your hands on. I usually place them right here."

"Hey, why am I the girl? You're supposed to teach me!" Arakita snapped, trying to ignore how the sudden closeness and Toudou's touch made his skin tingle.

"All right, stop complaining already," Toudou let go of Arakita's waist, and hooked his hands behind his neck instead. It felt... rather good. Arakita's skin was getting way too warm to his liking, it was almost like his blood was boiling, and he realized Toudou could probably feel that. Slowly, he lifted his hands and put them on Toudou's waist, just like instructed. Toudou started swaying to the song's beat, urging Arakita to do the same. It actually wasn't so bad this time, yet he still felt tense. Instead of looking at anywhere near Toudou's face, he firmly focused his gaze on the opposite wall.

"Right now this is a good start, although we're still quite far apart from each other. There are some signs that the girl wouldn't mind staying closer. She might look you in the eyes, for example," Toudou said and tilted his head to look Arakita straight into the eyes.

Arakita stared right back. Toudou's eyes  were beautiful, such a stunning shade of light blue. And he even always smelled so good. Something like meadow flowers, but it wasn't like a sickening sweet scent of perfume that some girls liked to wear.

"The girl can also move her hands on your waist. That's a clear sign she wants to be closer, if you're really dense as a rock and can't pick up the other signals," Toudou demonstrated again by moving his hands on his hips and pulling him closer. Arakita  wished that the damn song would end already, but that would also mean he'd had to let go of Toudou's waist. Or, he noticed his hands were now grazing Toudou's lower back, just above the curve of his ass. Somehow Arakita had managed to keep swaying into the rhythm, even though right now, dancing was the last thing on his mind. His hands were starting to sweat. Girls always said that's gross, didn't they? Fuck, this was hopeless!

"I'm not dense," Arakita protested. He pulled Toudou even closer and let his hands slide up and caress his back. He just didn't remember giving his limbs a permission to do that. Toudou in turn leaned in and rested his head against Arakita's shoulder, making Arakita's pulse speed up considerably.

"Sometimes when you slow dance, there's also kissing," Toudou sighed, breathing on Arakita's neck, causing a small shiver run through him. Toudou lifted his face and looked at Arakita into the eyes again, then glanced at his lips. Like he was expecting something.

"Kissing?" Arakita recoiled, stopping his half-assed swaying. Kissing was a completely different matter than dancing. Dancing with a friend was kind of toying on the line, but not crossing it. But if you kissed, the friendship would change into... something else.

Arakita's eyes found Toudou's lips. The color reminded him of raspberries. Probably tasted like that too. He wanted to find out, so he stopped thinking and pressed his lips against Toudou's.

It was warm. Too warm. And soft, Toudou's lips were as soft as a girl's and it kind of surprised him. There was no tongue, yet Arakita could still feel small electric shocks coursing through his body. Soft and chaste really wasn't his style, so he moved his hands into Toudou's hair and kissed him harder, causing Toudou to inhale sharply and let out a tiny noise of pleasure, his hands moving from Arakita's waist to his upper back.

When the song ended, they broke the kiss and slowly, reluctantly, pulled apart. The next track was something more upbeat again and just like that, the spell was broken. Arakita stared at his feet again, not knowing what to say. Suddenly, the whole situation seemed just absurd.

Toudou was the first to break their silence. "Not bad, you're getting a hang of it! But you I think you need some kissing lessons too," Toudou giggled gleefully, pulling Arakita into another kiss.
