Chapter Text
Night City, 2077….
The bright neon of Night City is reflecting off the pavement as a cool fog settled on Charter St. Although night has long settled over the city, the never-ending pulse of activity drags on. Corpos speed by to feed the machine, whilst the denizens of the streets go on about their daily lives. Judy watches on from her apartment window, where she always stands to wait for her V to come home from the latest gig. Judy still has a hard time believing how lucky she is to have V barge into her life. The purple haired Merc who at first glance seemed like all the rest, an ambitious and reckless individual who was only in it for the money. But as Judy spent more time with V, she realized just how far from the truth that is. As it turns out, behind the tough, literally bulletproof exterior of V, lies a very caring and thoughtful individual who would give her life for those she cares about. V proved this time and again to Judy after she helped her with clouds, out of the goodness of her heart. Then, there was Evelyn... How V slaughtered an entire warehouse of Scav’s just to save Judy’s best friend. And what transpired after that. A ping on Judy’s holo breaks her current train of thought, as a message from V appears on her HUD.
V: Heyy mi amor, just letting you know I’m on my way home ;).
Jude: Aw I’m glad to hear it Val, I missed you <3.
V: I missed you too! Can’t wait to be home with you.
Jude: Aww mi Calabacita, you’re too cute.
Jude: See you when you get here, Love u!!
V: I love you too mi amor <3!
Putting her phone away, Judy lights a cigarette and blows a puff of smoke out the window. Remembering the first time she saw the other side of V as well. The first time V was at Judy’s apartment, meeting with her friends, and Maiko. How she nearly collapsed to the ground clutching the side of her head, how she told Judy, she was dying… Judy could see the fear in V’s eyes as she told her about the biochip, the train wreck of a heist and how she lost her best friend. Then their time in Laguna bend, their first date as it were. Through their tandem BD dive Judy could see parts of V’s memory’s. How she grew up alone on the streets. And worked her way up to be the most respected merc in NC.
Another puff from the cigarette.
The day V attacked Arasaka Tower solo was the longest day of Judy’s Life. She was gathered with V’s close friends at Vik’s clinic watching the news as V made her way through the lobby mantis blades fully extended, eyes glowing a menacing red. The Group watched on as V sliced and blasted her way through Arasaka guards and drones. After a tough fight with an automated mech V disappeared from view into the Under level. The 30 or so minutes of waiting for further news was an interminable wait, one Judy would never forget, until finally, limping out of the elevator was the red, black and gold silhouette of V. The fight out of the lobby was brutal, many times it seemed V would die so close to her freedom from death. Until, finally, the scream of V's Caliburn could be heard and in seconds the white and gold car drifted into view, the door quicky opening then closing behind V as Vik sped off, bullets bouncing harmlessly of its armored shell. And that’s when the realization hit Judy, the love of her life was going to live! It was after fixing up V’s injuries that Vik indeed confirmed that no trace of the Relic or engram remained on V’s neural network and that the damage done had been repaired while in Mikoshi.
Judy let out one last puff of her cigarette before throwing it out the window. As she turns around, she hears the familiar scream of V’s Caliburn tearing down the road, as much as she adores V, her driving style could only be described as insane on the best of days, but in reality, it’s just another part of her Gonk of a Girlfriend she loves. Judy walks over to the door to help V with her gear. As V enters the apartment Judy quickly spots the 2 boxes of Pizza and bottle of wine V had tucked in her left arm, her helmet being cradled under the right one. She is also carrying her black duffle bag of equipment on her back. Judy can’t help but let out a laugh when V shoots her a cute smile.
“Hey Jude! Heh, mind giving me a hand with a few things?” V says with mock exasperation.
“Why do you always refuse to make more then one trip when carrying things.” Judy replies with a smile and shake of her head.
“Because I’m stubborn that way.” V says with a wink as she passes the Pizza and wine to Judy.
“My my, what’s the special occasion?”
“Just figured we could have a nice quiet Friday night, some wine, ‘za, maybe a movie? What do you say mi amor?”
“Hmm now I’d say that sounds appropriate.” Judy replies placing a kiss on V.
“Go get cleaned up while I set the table.”
“Yes ma’am.” V retorts with a mock salute, getting another giggle out of Judy.
Since V moved in with Judy permanently, she transformed the spare bedroom into a state-of-the-art armory, being a top tier merc did pay well after all, and they did not need a spare bed anymore so, out went the mattress and cabinets, to be replaced with a gun wall, work bench, grenade/ ammunition storage, a net-runner chair and even a hermetically sealed glass case for V’s combat wear. The day it all arrived V was nearly bouncing off the walls with excitement. Judy of course found it adorable to see her bad merc GF looking like a little girl on Christmas. She always did get exited from shiny tech and gear. At the same time, as a moving in present, V got Judy a new Workstation for her BD editing, with top-of-the-line emotive wave filters and microprocessors, sometimes Judy would fall asleep in her work den.
V makes her way into her armory to get out of her work clothes. Setting down her bag she begins to put her grenades and ammo in their respective cases. She then unslings her Ashura smart riffle from her shoulder and places it on the workbench. She places her helmet and face mask in the wall case along with her red and black Arasaka body armor. Next, she takes out her Satori Katana and, after cleaning the blade, places it on the wall. She then undoes her holsters and belt, slipping her armored pants off as well as her carbon steel combat shoes. She cleans her guns, and puts everything in its respective case.
V then grabs a towel and makes her way to the shower. Judy watches as her half naked output walks out of the armory and can’t help herself. Judy takes a few steps towards V. She grabs her hand causing V to turn around.
“How’s about a bit of company Calabacita?” Judy says putting her hands on V’s hips. V bites her lip and nods in response guiding Judy by the arm to the shower.
After a VERY refreshing shower, V gets in her track pants and hoodie, while Judy throws on a large T-shirt. The two enjoyed their pizza and wine while V talked about her recent gig. Something about Regina needing her to take out a troublesome Scav Haunt. Judy is well aware that V has a long-standing personal vendetta against Scavs. She is known to leave nothing but a trail of dismembered corpses when it came to them.
“How about we get this movie started Jude? I was thinking a Bushido marathon?”
“Ahh a woman of culture I see!” replies Judy with a big grin on her face.
“Heh, the most, how’s about you get it set up and I’ll grab some beer from the fridge.” Says V with a genuine smile.
“Okey-dokes”
V opens the fridge and grabs two cold brewskis, however she also notices an issue.
“Hey Jude. We, uh, don’t have any syn milk left”
She watches as Judy shuffled out of her den carrying the films.
“Shit, how are we gonna have our morning coffee?”
Both V and Judy are not morning people, and need the coffee with syn milk to even get out of bed.
“I mean, I could just walk to the store and get us some?”
“Aw V you sure?! You don’t have to do that.”
“I know I don’t but I want to, plus a nice walk in the cool night air could do me some good.” V says with a genuine smile.
“Aw you’re too sweet V, what did I do to deserve you” Judy replies blushing.
“I ask myself the same question every day mi amor” V says with a wink, turning to the closet to grab her beanie and headphones. Slipping on her sandals in the process.
“Socks and sandals, really V?”
“What, I’m comfortable! And besides who is there for me to impress asides from you, and you love my sense of fashion!” says V with a wink. Judy could not deny that V often dresses very nicely, even her combat uniform is a mix of danger and elegance. But it always makes Judy happy to see her V just going out in an oversized hoodie and tracks, though that won’t stop her from teasing V about it.
“Well as long as you are happy, that’s all that matter to me!”
V leaned in and gave Judy a light kiss. “Ill be back in about 20 k? Te-amo”
“Te quiero muchísimo Calabacita”
Before V left Judy spoke up once more. “And Val, please be carful out there”
With a smile V replied
“I will be.” A pause. “I will always come back to you.” the words she said before going into Mikoshi. Those words gave Judy more reassurance than anything, because if there is one promise V always kept, it was that she always comes back to her Judy.
With that V waves and leaves for the store, playing her favorite song in her headphones. Never fade away
~Cause we lost everything
The night was cool as V walked.
~We had to pay the price
A gentle fog set over the street.
~Of fallen angels who loved and lost
V continues to walk as the beat of the music soothed her mind.
~But in the end guess we paid the cost
A scope zooms in on the lilac haired girl as she walked
Unknown1: “We have visual, is unarmed and alone. Permission to proceed?”
Unknown2: “Confirmed. пусть охота начнется!”
Unknown1: “Affirmative. All units move out!”
~A thing of beauty, I know
~Will never fade away.
