Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Jimin sighed dejectedly. “Why did he listen to his friend?” Because of Tae’s uncanny ability to charm people into making decisions, Jimin was sat here at…yep, 4:30 am icing a ridiculously extravagant cake for a wedding happening tomorrow. It wasn’t that he didn’t love baking, in fact he’d secretly rejoiced when Tae offered Jimin the chance to try working at the bakery that he was now employed at. Jimin had immediately quit his office job, making sure to remove all the ink from all the pens in his asshole of a boss’s office before he left. Now he gets to work with his platonic soulmate almost everyday and has become solid friends with the bakery owner, Seokjin and consequently well acquainted with Seokjin’s husband, Namjoon.

Over time Jimin had discovered his knack for baking, even designing some of the sweets on the current menu himself. Now he used baking as a way to indulge in some quiet time with himself or his close friends, enjoying it immensely. The only thing Jimin didn’t like in fact was WEDDING CAKES! He groaned and slammed his head down onto the counter in front of him, some strands of his blond hair falling into the stray frosting that was splattered around. He didn’t want to finish this cake but it has to be delivered to the wedding venue in just a few hours’ time. At this, Jimin slowly raised his head from where it lay on the counter, hair now sticking up in numerous directions and eye bags almost as deep for his hatred for complex cakes.

At 6am Jimin finally piped the last tiny flower onto the damn cake and let out a small sigh of relief. It was then the sound of rustling out the front caught his attention and with a jump he realized it was probably Tae opening the shop up. “Shit!” He cursed. He had to work a 10-hour shift today, starting in exactly…15 minutes! Jimin scraped himself off of his stool and dragged himself into the shop front to greet his friend.

“Hi T-”

“Holy shit Minnie! You look like crap!” Tae yelled.

Jimin winced, Tae had never really understood the concept of indoor voices and his poor sleep deprived brain was not enjoying that fact currently.

“Thanks, Taetae” Jimin croaked. “Totally wasn’t up all night making that damn cake you decided would be a good idea to agree to” he grumbled.

Tae smiled apologetically at his friend. “Sorry Min, I’m sure the cake looks great though! Jinnie will be here to deliver it soon, if you want you can run back home and shower and change, you look like you might need it!” Tae grinned cheekily.

And if Tae hadn’t of been absolutely correct, Jimin would’ve scolded him but right now his usual peachy scent was marred with that of built-up sweat, grime and unthinkable amounts of frosting. Instead, he just wrinkled his nose in disgust and muttered a “Thanks Tae, I think I will.”

He then busied himself grabbing his stuff and bolted out of the shop with a quick wave to a snickering Tae.

Once he reached his apartment a short 5 minute mad-dash away, he leaped into the shower, sighing in relief at the feeling of the steaming water washing away the stickiness. After he felt significantly less gross, he stepped out of the shower and hurriedly slipped into his clean uniform that he kept in his wardrobe. It wasn’t until he was attempting to pull on his slacks, he remembered why he kept this uniform as his back-up…it always clung tight to him which was annoying as heck.

After 5 more painful minutes of fighting with the slacks to slip them over his ass and then button them up, Jimin was finally ready to run back to the bakery.
Jimin burst back through the bakery door to find that Tae was finishing up with opening, with just stocking the glass display cases left to do. Jimin smiled thankfully at his friend and took over for him, allowing Tae to head to the kitchen to start baking some of their warm goods.

Jimin ran his hand through his still damp hair, squared his shoulders, put his best customer service smile on and flipped the sign on the door to display ‘open’.
It wasn’t long before the shop started to fill with customers, mostly tradesmen stopping by for their breakfasts. Jimin smiled to himself, it was lovely to see his friend’s shop so successful and he would be forever grateful to Jin for hiring him, despite his lack of relevant experience.

Eventually, just after lunch there was a slight lull in the flow of customers, allowing Jimin some time to restock the baked goods and refill the coffee syrups. Just as he was singing lightly to himself, reaching up to a higher shelf for the vanilla syrup, he heard a small cough behind him.
Jimin jumped and spun round to face the noise but stumbled in doing so and soon enough was reunited with his one true love, the most consistent thing in his life that will always be there to catch him when he falls…the floor.

A small gasp came from the same direction as the previous cough and Jimin heard footsteps rushing towards him, he looked up from his position on his ass on the floor to see a young man towering over him, offering his hand.

Jimin groaned in embarrassment, his face flushing beet red. Of course, the most attractive dude he’d ever had the pleasure of laying his eyes on happened to witness him making a complete fool out of himself.

Handsome guy just tilted his head and made a sound of confusion, obviously wondering why Jimin’s sorry ass was just wallowing on the floor instead of taking the offered hand to get up.

Jimin eventually brought himself back to his senses and before he could think about what he was doing, he grabbed the hand in front of his face. Immediately Jimin felt his body rise swiftly from the floor, damn this dude was strong. Then again, Jimin should’ve guessed as much from the muscled biceps this guy was sporting, bulging slightly with the effort of lifting Jimin up. Unfortunately, this man may have been a tad too strong as Jimin found himself flying towards the man’s body without a chance to steady himself on his feet.

A soft “oomph” flew out of Jimin’s mouth as his head collided with a chest clad in a fitted black t-shirt. It took Jimin a few seconds to realise that the firm muscles he felt under where his head lay belonged to that of the beautiful stranger who had just hauled him off of the floor. At this realisation, he jerked his head up.
But as Jimin’s luck would have it, his sudden movement caused his head to collide with the chin of the stranger who Jimin belatedly realised was looking down and asking him if he was okay.

“Minnie! Why are you headbutting our customers!” Tae’s yell entered Jimin’s ears. At the sound of his friend’s voice, Jimin jumped back, threw himself at Tae and burst into tears.

Normally Jimin would have laughed off this sort of accident, after all he was a naturally clumsy person but the past day of stress and sleep deprivation meant he no longer had it in him to think and act rationally.

“You okay Minnie?” Tae asked, significantly calmer out of concern for his best friend.

Jimin replied with a muffled sob from Tae’s apron.

“Um- I’m sorry, I don’t know what happened.” A nervous voice came from the customer.

Tae blinked and then smiled “Ah don’t worry it’s fine, Minnie here is just slightly unstable from being up all night making and decorating a huge wedding cake that I accepted the commission for! I’m sure he’d let you make it up to him with a coffee when he’s feeling better” Tae winked.

The stranger was now the one to blush. He averted his eyes and rubbed the nape of his neck anxiously. “Y-yeah sure…I-if he doesn’t mind…” he stammered. At this Tae grinned his boxy smile and quickly plonked Jimin on a stool in the kitchen.

“Great! Now what can I get for you?” He said enthusiastically.

“Oh, um could I get 2 black coffees, a vanilla donut and a croissant please?” He handed over the money to a still grinning Tae who handed over the pastries and got to work on the coffees.

Once the coffees were ready, Tae handed them to the waiting customer. “Have a nice day and don’t forget to come back soon to take Minnie for that coffee…-”

“-Jungkook.” The man finished, a small smile now gracing his thin lips.

And with that, Jungkook exited out of the door with Taehyung waving cheerily goodbye.

“TAEEEE” a screech came from where he had left Jimin. He spun around to find a red face staring at him.

“Hey Min! What’s up?” Tae smiled at Jimin.

“You-”

“Min, listen. How long has it been since you last had a relationship? Hell, when was the last time since you even got laid?! I’m doing you a favour here! That guy is exactly your type!!” Tae whined indignantly.

Jimin pouted with a “hmph”. Okay maybe Tae was right, the guy was definitely Jimin’s ideal type. The man looked like sex on legs! He had a strong and fit build, muscled but still lean, big doe eyes, a nose that was slightly too big for his face, adding to the awkward but charming look; his lips were shiny and the tiny mole below his bottom lip definitely wasn’t super kissable or anything… Furthermore, the man’s arms were covered in tattoos and he sported a number of piercings in his ears, one in his eyebrow and even a ring on his lip! Fuck okay maybe Jimin could go for this coffee…
