I fear that perhaps all of this is an addiction, though Sylvia trained me to be able to resist any type of dependence, especially on something physical, like alcohol or drugs. She didn’t consider something as homely and innocent as literature, and looking back at when I first picked up this pen and paper, neither did I.

But that was dangerous. No one ever wanted to keep Anya.
She pushed him away, furiously wiping away her tears, desperately trying to stop more from falling, and failing.
“Wh-who are you?” she asked.
His sudden devastation ripped through her like a relentless hailstorm. She whimpered at the pain of it. She had never felt an emotional blow like this. It felt like the world was ending.
But he didn’t show it. He absorbed the pain, his face didn’t even twitch. No tears touched his eyes. He didn’t visibly react at all.
She doesn’t remember.
