Work Text:

"Everyone, I would like you to meet your new classmate!" the professor announced. You step into the room and see several students you didn't know. "Hello, my name is Y/n L/n." you say, "I'm from House H/N!" You look around the room, seeing a mirage of smiles, very welcoming ones to state. "It's a pleasure to meet you all!" One student, in particular, caught your eye. She had ivory hair, with eyes that were a bright lavender, and her stature was authoritarian, almost like an emperor. She was smiling with her eyes, but her mouth was neutral.

"You should introduce yourselves, as you did when I arrived here." the professor said. The students nod and went up to introduce themselves. A scary-looking one, with droopy black hair, approaches you first. "I am Hubert von Vestra, Edelgard's vassal." he introduces. He shakes your hand and goes off to the side, staring at you sternly. The next student is next in line, her hair was a dark magenta and was tied into a ponytail with braids. "I am Petra, I am from Brigid," Petra introduces, "pleased to be of friendship with you. "She smiled at you, probably for you to appreciate her try at the Fodlan language. After a couple of minutes of introductions with the other students, you finally get to meet the mysterious white-haired girl.

"My name is Edelgard von Hresvolg." She started. She looks at her feet, trying to gain composure. "I am the leader of the Black Eagles." Edelgard looks at you with intrigue, as she makes eye contact. Her eyes were so beautiful to stare into, they were seas of violets and lavenders. There were tangs, however of wistfulness and complexity in those violet orbs. Suddenly, you felt the heat rising to your cheeks, your stomach twisting and turning by the busy butterflies, and your heart pumping at the speed of sound. Her lips were rose pink, and they were just inviting you for a kiss. Edelgard tries to shake her hand with you, but you were distracted.

"Y/n, are you alright?" Edelgard questioned. You put your hand on top of hers to attempt the handshake. Her hand is warm, and it feels like fire after a long day of work. Her hand is soft, like a well-fluffed pillow and you couldn't stop feeling it. "Your hand..it's so soft." You whispered. Edelgard had a wave of embarrassment flush over as she pulled her hand slowly. She felt your hand for each millisecond of her pulling away, she was just as interested as you were. "Forgive me!" you apologised. "It won't happen again!"

Edelgard looks at her hand, clearly flustered replies, "No, it was of my doing." She steps away from you, hoping you wouldn't see her in a flustered state. "Professor, shouldn't we get ready for class?" She frantically asked. The professor nodded and led all of us to our seats. You were preparing your things for class when you noticed a note being slipped into one of your books. It was rose-scented and written in elegant calligraphy. There is a red tiny rose on the corner of the note. It read:

"Y/n, I would like us to have tea time, around evening preferably, I would like to get to know you more. From, Edelgard Von Hresvolg."

Your heart skipped a beat, and your stomach tumbled and twisted in knots.

You couldn't believe it, the girl you had just met wants to have a date, er, a teatime with you. You quickly sat down in your seat, still thinking and daydreaming about your future teatime with Edelgard.

The professor then began instruction of the class, teaching us about how to manipulate a sword. In your old academy, you were taught a mixture of all different weapons. The sword, the axe, the lance, tomes, staffs, and bows were all interesting. You begin to doodle the professor's face as he taught. Your doodle didn't turn out so great, due to the constant moving he did. It looked like a horror out of a children's tale.

The professor caught you staring at him throughout the class, as you attempted to doodle his face. You quickly averted your eyes only to spot Edelgard in the act. She stared at you heavily, her lavender eyes glistened. She quickly turned away, clearing her throat afterward.

"Attention, I will be demonstrating proper sword techniques with Edelgard." the professor announced. "I will need a volunteer!" None of the students raised their hands. Caspar, the loud one, whispered to Linhardt saying, "As much as I like a challenge, Edelgard with a sword.." You feel worried, you think about the poor sap who'd have to spar with Edelgard. The professor began to move his hand around deciding to pick who would volunteer. His hand moved from side to side and side to side and side to side until...

"Y/n!" the professor shouted. You sulk into your seat. Why me? It could've been anyone else! I can't spar with Edelgard... You get up from your seat and walk to the front of the class. Edelgard blushed slightly as you stand in front of her. The professor hands you a sword, a mediocre one, with splotches of bloodstains on it. What should I say, I shouldn't be silent right now. She'll best me clearly, and I don't want to hurt her.

"I hope you win." You accidentally blurt out.

Edelgard looks at you, puzzled. She readies her sword and gets into a fighting stance. "As to you," she says confidently.

The demonstration begins as you thrust into Edelgard with my sword. You overpower her as she blocks with her sword. "You're good!" Edelgard panted. She raised her sword struck back as you prepared to strike harder.

You did an overhead parry to block the strike and proceed to cut from Edelgard's right. She prances back when she notices your swift cut. She sneers and thrusts near your throat, in a quick second you parry your sword. You and Edelgard's swords pushed in a desperate tug-of-war. Edelgard's face began to redden as she came closer and closer to you. You couldn't help but feel a wave of embarrassment flush over you. Her breath began to pant, as her sweat dripped onto your sword.

With a swift push, your sword pushed Edelgard's sword away from the battle. You drop your sword as Edelgard lost her balance and fell on top of you. Your legs were interconnected with hers, and you could feel her heartbeat, it was beating rapidly as if it could burst at any moment. Her skin is soft just like her hands, and you started to wrap your hands around her. In the middle of the moment, Edelgard quickly got up and apologized. She stared at you, hoping you didn't feel any hatred towards her. Her face began to return to its porcelain color. She didn't need to apologize at all, you enjoyed every moment of it.

"That was a draw!" the professor exclaimed. "Both students demonstrated proper sword technique!" Both of you returned to your seats. The rest of the class went off without a hitch, besides the occasional stares from Edelgard. The bell began to ring after the lecture, and it was now the late afternoon. You decided to head off to the marketplace in the academy to buy pastries and gifts for the teatime in the evening.

"Hey, is this all?" Anna, the merchant, asked. "Bergamot tea, carnations, and an armoured bear stuffy?" You nod after she shows you the items. "Alright, that will be 1,300 gold." Anna replied. You gave her the gold and took your items. You wave bye and head towards the dormitory areas.

You arrive at your room, and by the looks of it, it was very minimalist. It was organised by the student's needs. A calendar, a bed, a dresser, a desk, and a chair are all that a student needs. You decided that you didn't need any luxuries as of right now, so you put down your things on the desk. You fantasise about what you wanted to make the teatime special with Edelgard. As you thought about it you drifted into fantasies with Edelgard.

You daydreamed sparring with Edelgard, her axe clanging against your sword. After she grew tired of the spar, she grabs your hand, and pulls you in for a kiss. Seeing her pristine and petite lips and making contact with them, made you swoon. The beating of your heart got intensively louder with each thought about her. Your cheeks began to get even hotter thinking about her petite body, and her ivory hair. You wanted to sift through Edelgard's hair, feeling the silkiness of it.

"Bandits!" someone from the outside shouted. You grabbed your sword and ran out of your room when you saw bandits coming from the right. The bandits turned and see you when you noticed you began to run as fast as you can. The bandits began to chase you, looking at you with murderous intent.

You remembered your training from your old academy, to take each bandit at a time. You stop running and ready your sword. Your signature sword, S/N, had been with you since childhood, and you've always had it in times of strife. The bandits have reached and readied their axes, but one of them charges straight towards you. "I love victims like you, ya ready for ye death!" the bandit cried. "Remember, I am Banda the Beast!" You prepared your sword for blocking when Banda charged and pushed your sword away with his axe. You stumbled on the ground, hoping his execution will be brief and painless. He readied his axe for a fatal swing. You close your eyes.

"Arghhhh!" Banda screamed in pain. You open your eyes when you see an axe in Banda's arm. "Y/n, are you harmed?" a familiar voice cried. You turn around, and it was like an oasis in a miles-long desert. It was Edelgard, your knight to save you, the student-in-distress. She helps you back up and pulls the axe out of Banda. "Aghhhh, you'll pay for that wench!" he writhed. "We cannot handle all these bandits!" Edelgard shouts. Both of you retreat when suddenly the professor gets in front of you. "Ahh, the one with the blank stare." Banda sneers. "Die!" He lunges into the professor with axe, but with no success. The professor used his retractable sword, showing a Crest of some kind, cutting the bandit lord fatally. The professor runs towards the other bandits, but out of fear, they retreat.

Two more professors arrive at the scene to confirm if all the bandits were taken care of. "Byleth, are they all done?" the seductive looking professor asked. "I've scared them off on my section." the older one added. Professor Byleth nods, and replies, "Yes, they've all been taken care of." He looks back at us, smiling, and returns to looking at the professors. "Manuela, Hannerman." Byleth started, "inform the other students that the crisis has been averted." The two professors nod and return to their sections to inform their students. Byleth heads back to the class house to prepare for another lecture.

You see a rose in a bush after Byleth goes back to the class house. You go closer to it, smelling its wonderful smell. The red in the rose was similar to the red in Edelgard's leggings. A vibrant red, it made her look even prettier. You cut the rose off with your hands, forgetting that roses have thorns. The thorns pricked your hand, as blood seeped from your palm. You picked up your sword, and headed back to your room, to prepare for your teatime.

The sky was near twilight, and it was near the evening. You put your gifts and a box, and your lone rose in there too. You brewed the Bergamot tea earlier, but luckily it's still piping hot. You leave your room and head towards the courtyard.

Then, you see her. Edelgard. She was still dressed in her uniform, except she tied her hair in a sideways ponytail. She looked even more beautiful each passing second. When you're at the tea table, you call her over. When you called her, She turned around and looked flustered. You and Edelgard both sit down, as you poured her Bergamot tea in a cup. "Thank you, for having tea with me." She thanked. She brought up her cup and took a sip. Her eyes gleamed as she drank. She put the cup down, and cooed, "This is my favourite tea." Edelgard took another sip. "Thank you Y/N!" She thanked. She drank all of her tea after a couple of minutes.

"So, y/n, why did you come to Gareg Mach?" She wondered. You take a couple of seconds to think after you sipped your tea. "I came here because my parents wanted me to go to the prestigious Officer's Academy." You replied. "My old academy, A/N, was very informative though, it taught me techniques I could never pass up." Edelgard nods as she listens. "I see, you're not like our professor." She says. "He was invited to teach here, and had no prior knowledge of teaching." You agree as she continues.

"I was...fond of the professor. I grew too attached in the beginning." She murmured. You stop your train of thought. The professor, you thought, I possibly might have a chance! You wanted to derail the conversation.

"What things do you find romantic?" You ask. Edelgard shook up as soon as you asked that. Her face began to redden. "I find someone's tenacity romantic. The ability to lead proficiently is quite romantic," she answered. "Having teatimes like this is also quite romantic." Your heart begins to beat quickly, and your breath becomes heavy. You feel a rush of adrenaline come over you.

You suddenly give Edelgard the box of gifts that you bought in the marketplace. Edelgard hesitantly took the box. She opened it, and her face became relaxed and glowed. "This is all too much!" she replied. She brought out the carnations and the armoured bear stuffy, touching each of them with reverence and love. Her porcelain cheeks were splashed with pinks and reds. "Thank you so much!" she swooned. You smiled ear to ear when she looked at her gifts with love.

The sky was dark, and it was near time for the teatime to end. Edelgard stands up and says, "Thank you for having me Y/n. It's been a pleasure." You feel one ounce of adrenaline still in your body. You leaped at Edelgard and got close to her. You could hear her heart beating quickly and her face about to redden. Her dignified mien was fading as you came closer. You played with her silky smooth ponytail and pulled it over her shoulder. Heat rose from your stomach to your chest, as your face got closer to Edelgard's. Your lips were coming closer towards her, as well as hers, and your heart skips a beat, her fragrance was near hypnotising.

The sky seemed to get darker as both of you were getting closer and closer. You put your hand on Edelgard's face, it felt like a warm pillow after a long day. It was like time stopped when your lips met with Edelgard's. "Y/n!" she swooned. The kiss was a calm before the storm. Your stomach was fluttering and twisting and turning. Beat! Beat! Beat! Your heart was about to burst! Your fingers explored the back of her head, feeling her hair and her soft neck. You could feel Edelgard's nervousness, but it all dissolves when your fingers rubbed her hair.

Yours and Edelgard's bodies were glued together next to the tea-table. The radiating heat from Edelgard's body puts you in the moment. Nothing could stop you and her from feeling this moment. Edelgard’s dignified nature flushed away with every second. Her face was red with passion and love.

Your lips parted away after a couple of minutes. Edelgard blushed as you pulled away, looking as if she wanted more. You pick up the rose you found earlier after the bandit invasion. "T-This is for you." you breathed. You went up to her and put in her hair. You gave a slight kiss on the cheek, as you stepped back. "You're my lone rose in a battlefield, Edelgard." You professed. She stumbled back, flustered. "T-Thank you." she cooed. She kissed you back on the cheek.

"I'll see you tomorrow." Edelgard says. She turns around and starts walking to her room. "Good night! she expressed. "You too!" You shout. You turn around and head towards your room, promising yourself to remember this moment forever.
