History Will Hate Us (But They'll Never Forget Our Names)

Summary:

Technoblade was a name to be respected. Thousands upon thousands of people knew it, sent it back and forth in hushed conversation where they shared rumors and gossip. They’d murmur about his accomplishments or the theories of his connection to the mysterious shadow that terrorized innocent lives. Blood God was a name to be feared. It held the same, if not more weight than Technoblade. One of the names would be shared among travelers as they passed through the land of Hypixel; the other would be whispered under covers as a ghost story in villages.

There was another moniker he went by, one he’d purged long ago. An alias in no way forgotten but laid to rest. In fact, it was his first name.

Technoblade, the Blood God, was Theseus.

Or: Technoblade is the same hero that was exiled and cast aside by the people he saved. It’s been hundreds of years, and Phil is the only person he has left. That’s what he thought anyways, before making the discovery that Dream bore one too many similarities to an old friend.

Chapter 1: Authors Note

To spare you the long story and unnecessary details, I took Mythology earlier this year and it was amazing, but the course materials (all online) have been wiped since it’s only a half year course and the quarters switched. Meaning I can’t reread the story of Theseus (I’m missing HALF of it). While I can technically just read stuff online, it’s very different from the story we read in class. For anybody who isn’t a mythology junkie, the stories can be vague and tend to have multiple separate adaptations in which different things happen or are cut out of the story altogether. Anyways, I was basing this AU on this specific version of the story that I read in class and it was super neat, but what’s depressing about all of this is that it is.

I even searched teacher coursework share sites and websites educators buy their materials from, TO NO AVAIL.

So, the point of this was to say that while this entire thing was originally going to be an AU of the original story anyways because, y’know, I’m inserting DSMP characters into the entire thing; I am going by memory (for specific details) for everything past Theseus leaving Athens. I am pretty close to clueless here on what the original story was like or where it was going. (I’ve got a base idea in mind but I’m 89% positive I’m missing key elements/ideas so just roll with me here folks-)

This probably isn’t a big deal and half of you might not even know anything about mythology and just decided to check this out because “cool au pog?” but I felt the need to warn you JUST in case there’s one of you out there who gets completely buttfucked by everything after Theseus getting on the ship.
