Alberto was lying on his mattress and reading his best friend Luca's letter. Luca went off to school after their crazy summer together while Alberto stayed behind. However, Luca kept up a correspondence with Alberto and his parents while away. He was still a child, after all. Plus, far from home.

"Dear Alberto,

How are you doing today? I hope the weather is okay where you are. It's been raining nonstop for the past three days here.  Giulia and I are fine. We're studying the different elements of the periodic table. Did you know water is called H2O because its two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen?

The food is excellent here, but I do miss Massimo's cooking. Not that Giulia's mom's cooking is terrible, either.  Well, I've got to go. School tomorrow, and Giulia's mom has a bedtime for us.

See you later, love Luca!"

Alberto smiled happily as he reread the letter several times. Then he picked up a nearby pen to write his response.

"Dear Luca,

Miss you so much, buddy. Everything is going great here—the weather has been quite lovely.  Your parents are doing alright, in case you're wondering. They've gotten more use to the surface now.

Massimo and I are doing great. We've done a lot of father-son bonding lately. Everything is going fantastic, and  I'm glad summer is coming soon. You did promise to return with Giulia every summer.

See you soon, love Alberto!" The young sea monster smiled before hurrying to get to the post office before it closed. Then he rushed home for some of Massimo's fantastic pasta.

Only six more weeks and summer would arrive. Then Alberto and Luca be reunited till the next school year. Life was going well for them, but spending another amazing summer together? That would be awesome!

Notes:

It's heartwarming to see the bond between Alberto and Luca, even when they're apart. Their friendship is a source of comfort and joy for both of them. Here are a few suggestions to enhance their correspondence and friendship:

Shared Memories: Encourage Alberto and Luca to reminisce about their summer adventures in their letters. They can recall funny moments, exciting discoveries, and shared memorable experiences. This will help them stay connected and keep the spirit of their friendship alive even when they're apart.

Future Plans: Have Alberto and Luca discuss their plans for the upcoming summer and what they hope to do when reuniting. They can brainstorm ideas for new adventures, explore places, and try activities together. This will build anticipation and excitement for their reunion.

Supportive Messages: Remind Alberto and Luca to offer each other words of encouragement and support in their letters. They can share advice, listen, and offer reassurance during challenging times. Knowing they have each other's back can strengthen their bond and help them navigate life's ups and downs.

Cultural Exchange: Encourage Alberto and Luca to share insights into their worlds, including their unique customs, traditions, and experiences. They can learn from each other's perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of different cultures, enriching their friendship.

Creative Expression: Encourage Alberto and Luca to express themselves creatively in their letters, whether through drawings, poems, or stories. This allows them to showcase their talents and share their creative inspirations with each other, fostering a sense of creativity and imagination in their friendship.

By incorporating these elements into their correspondence, Alberto and Luca can continue to nurture their friendship and create lasting memories that will strengthen their bond for years to come.
