Work Text:

False was never one for words, she can talk to people, she doesn't have problems with interacting with the others. But until someone starts a conversation with her all she can manage are "Hi"s" Hello"s and nods of greeting in the person's direction.

Gem is the opposite, Gem starts conversations whenever someone comes her way. She talks to everyone every chance she gets, always aware of exactly just what to talk about to have an engaging conversation that could last for days if she wanted it to.

Growing up with her mother in a cabin in the woods far from the steampunk city of her homeworld- False was more hands on with everything, showed her care and attention by deeds and creations rather than by words and conversations.

Sometimes she feels guilty, unable to give back the energy that Gem brings whenever they talk while sitting side by side on the top of her little tree-house. So she keeps her eyes on Gem at all times then, laughs whenever the story is funny, holds the Hybrid's hand and squeezes every so often in place of "Yes" as an answer. Brings along golden carrots whenever Gem spends time in the cozy looking skeleton farm she and Impulse had built beneath the ground.

And every single time, Gem thanks her in happy tones with eyes that she swears glows just a little greener whenever she's alight with joy. False smiles every time, and in their bed at nights where they're intertwined with each other, False will find a way to have her fingers repeatedly card through red hair in a slow rhythm as she knows it helps Gem sleep more soundly, or to have a hand gently stroking up and down the hybrid's back as it slowly rises and falls with steady, sleepy breaths.

Gem mutters a low "I love you." against her collarbone, and False responds in kind with a kiss to the side of her forehead.

Letting her lips linger on skin with a smile.
