Chapter 1: So here we start

Chapter Text

Izuku was a dangerously smart child, even at four.  His brain was like a small version of a supercomputer, and anyone connected to the family knew it.  Inko Midoriya, his mother, was just proud of her son, and how brave and amazing he was.  Especially when Katsuki Bakugo, Izukus best friend and Inkos best friend's son, got his quirk one day in preschool.

She had been told that Izuku had clamped onto Katsuki into a vice hug and had laughed at the image in her head, and the picture she was sent by Tamaya-Sensei, one of their teachers.  So when Izuku woke up and came into the living room crying about his head hurting, she knew something was wrong.

“Izuku honey, are you ok? How bad is it?” She fretted and when he raised his eyes to look at her she heard a little soft whirr and click in her head, and then saw his eyes start glowing a dark green.

She froze for a split second before she tried to use her quirk to bring a box of tissues to her. A dull feeling in her chest and head that basically told her that her quirk wasn’t working.  Dark green eyes were watching her struggle as tears started to well in them.

“Momma!” He cried and rushed at her, tackling her into a hug, “It’s my fault, you can’t use your quirk because of me!”

Inkos heart cracked at her son's words as she just wrapped her arms around her son.  The mother and son just sat there in relative silence for a while before Inko felt the warmth of her quirk returning.  She pointed at her phone and visibly relaxed as it came to her easily.

Izuku felt his mother relax and watched as her phone floated over to her and started to cry again, but in happiness.  “Your quirks back! I didn’t get rid of it!”

As he cried into her shirt, his head still hurting, she called up her brother, who may be snappy right now because it’s early, but he could get over it.

Ring!!

Ring!!

Ring!!

Shouta’s phone rang waking him up just as he fell asleep.  His sleep schedule has been skewed for years, and his older sister knows this, his night patrols were not helping either.

He picked up his phone reluctantly and slipped out of bed to avoid waking Hizashi and Nemuri.  When he entered the hall after closing the door he finally answered.

“What?”

“About time you picked up.” Inkos voice chuckled on the other side and he heard his nephew's little giggle as well.

“I’ve been off patrol and want to sleep before those two idiots go do their patrols, so what do you want Inko?”

“You really shouldn’t be talking about your partners like that, you know.” She lightly scolded making him roll his eyes but smile smally.

“Whatever, they know how I feel, so why did you decide to pull me from the comfort of darkness to talk?”

“Stopping being so emo Sho,” Inko said exasperated and he heard Izuku yawn lightly, “anyway it’s about Izuku, his quirk came in this morning, and Sho, I think it’s a mutation of our parents, not included dads rabbit mutation obviously.”

“Ok so it’s like a combo of your telekinesis and my erasure?”

“Yes, he came in the living room complaining about his head hurting and his eyes were glowing a dark green like yours glow red,” Inko explained and said something off to the side and he could hear Izuku's confirmation squeak, “when they did I heard a small click in my head and I wasn’t able to use my quirk for a little while, even after his eyes were in my shirt from crying.”

Shouta stood silent for a split second.  His mind was flying at a million miles per hour.  His nephew had a quirk nearly identical to his own and didn’t need to keep his eyes on the target.

“Inko I’m coming over to do some tests, I want to see what else he could do.”

He could hear her sputter a little but her voice betrayed she was smiling widely, “Ok, can you wait another three hours maybe? I’m going to try and get his head to stop hurting first.”

Shouta nodded, “Ok, I’ll get Nem to drop me off when she leaves.”

“Thanks Sho, seriously, I can’t imagine what’d it be like if Izuku also had dad and Rumi's rabbit mutation.”

That thought made Shouta daydream what Izuku would look like with the rabbit mutation.

“Adorable but better if it was a cat.” He muttered, forgetting he was on the phone.

“You're not wrong, but he’s adorable anyway.” She said with finality that Shouta knew he couldn’t argue it, which he wouldn’t.

“Yeah, anyway I hear the two idiots waking up so I’ll see you in a few hours.”

“Ok Sho, love you.”

“Love you too.” He said and heard the call shut off just as one of his partners walked into the living room with her hair in a mess.

“Was that Inko? She’s the only one besides us and Your younger sister you’d say that too.” Nemuri asked with a tired smirk.

Shouta sighed and moved away from the couch he was heading towards and instead turned and headed towards her.  Her little smirk softened into a small sleepy smile as he kissed her cheek.

“Yeah it was, Izuku's quirk came in so I need to go over in a few hours to help test some stuff.”

Nemuri nodded, then promptly moved and glomped onto one of her boyfriends, who just sighed in defeat, “I’ll get Mayuri to drop you off when she picks me up.”

Shouta nodded and wrapped his arms around her waist and moved to the couch making her squeal as they fell back.

“That gives me a three hour nap.” He said as he promptly fell asleep holding her to his chest.

She smiled and listened to his heartbeat as she heard Hizashi walk into the room.  Quickly moving to silent with a finger to her lips she mouthed, “He’s asleep and I’m not moving, so get to work you parakeet.”

Hizashi nearly squawked at the parakeet comment but decided to leave his partners alone and quickly went through his routine as the others stayed on the couch.  When he finished he walked over and kissed Nemuri softly and kissed Shouta on the forehead, making him grumble in his sleep.

After he left Nemuri tried to get out of Shouta’s grip but he hissed lightly and she just sighed, resigned to her fate as a cuddle toy, not like she minded anyway.

It wasn’t until the three hours were up that Shouta released his captive who kissed him on the cheek and dashed away to get ready as he just sat up, just in time for a pitch black cat to dash out of nowhere and lay in his lap.

His lips upturned in a smile, “Morning Murder.” He said petting the cat gently as his purrs seemed to shake the apartment.

“I swear that cat has a quirk, or is secretly a very small lion.” Nemuri said as she walked back into the living room completely ready to go.

((Foreshadowing😈))

Shouta raised an eyebrow at her, “True and I know you're a hero but I swore most women would take longer than 5 minutes to get ready.”

“Sho sweetie, it’s been almost half an hour.” She commented with a little chuckle as he checked his phone and saw she was right.

He grumbled and Murder purred louder and jumped away zooming away to hide somewhere.

Nemuri chuckled at their cat, “Either Izu meets him first and we lose him, or we get more cats without ‘Zashi knowing.”

“Second option all the way, I’d rather not lose Murder to my nephew.” Shouta said immediately, already looking at cat cafes nearby that allowed adoption.

“You’re looking aren’t you?” She asked deadpan.

Shouta looked up at her with the most serious face he has ever had, “Nemuri, you know me well enough that I don’t joke about cats.”

Nemuri chuckled and walked over to him, and kissed the top of his head since he was still sitting on the couch and made him hiss quietly.

“Yeah yeah whatever you say Cat Man, come on I need to drop you off at Inkos remember.”

Shouta groaned but complied to being pulled up off the couch, “Fine but I’m not changing, she and Izuku won’t care what I have on.”

“Yeah yeah whatever you edgelord.” Nemuri said as she started to push him towards the door.

After a little more struggle she got him outside and downstairs after locking the door, and to Mayuri who was waiting on her phone.

“Morning Miss, Morning Eraser.” Mayuri greeted when she felt them approaching thanks to her quirk.

“You and your Aura Sense, I’m so glad we hired you for the agency.” Nemuri smiled and hugged her, making the lady blush deeply.

Shouta sighed deeply and just climbed into the back of the car, “Can we just go now?”

Mayuri smiled at one of her bosses as she slipped around to the driver side and Nemuri just chuckled gently as she slid into the passenger side.  Pretty soon the three were on their way Inko and Izukus home.
