Chapter Text
The teenage boy woke up, looked at the clock next to his bed and saw it was blinking and immediately stormed out of bed, making sure to grab his envelope. Hoping he didn’t sleep in too late, he slid his clothes on quickly. When he walked out of his room to look at a different clock, all of them were blinking as well. Oh well, he thought, the power must have gone out last night. He must have slept in because the rest of his family had already left the house. He grabbed his bike and headed outside only to find the cold smacking him in the face. Didn’t the news say it was gonna be warm out today? He thought, guess they were wrong, again. Realizing he really didn’t want to bike through the cold in a short sleeve t-shirt he decided to get a jacket. He grabbed his jacket and biked on through the oddly empty roads, that’s weird he thought, it’s usually pretty empty in the winter but it’s normally not this bad. He passed the “Welcome to Corolla” sign on his way to work only to find that it was no longer graffitied huh, he thought, someone’s finally doing their job. He continued on through town, and finally saw a few cars on the road however the windows seemed to be tinted or something because he couldn’t make out a face.
He finally got to the store where he worked and he saw his friend Jack and called out to him.
“Hey Jack! How are you doing?” But his only answer was in silence.
“Jack, is something wrong?” he asked as he jogged toward his friend. Again, silence.
“Are you alright?” He said reaching out for his friend.
But as he reached out and touched his friend, his hand went through his friend’s body, and he didn’t feel anything.
After he reached through he saw a blast of colors that he had never seen before, and the world seemed to open around him, he saw colors he had never seen before. He felt everything around him start to glitch and contort in countless different ways. He then heard 6 words said in a robotic voice in a language that sounded like English, but wasn’t.
The robotic voice continued but he didn’t hear any of it, he was panicking, he didn't know what was going on. He started hyperventilating and tearing up as he looked around, after nearly a minute he passed out.
