Work Text:
TK walked into the station with his hood up and a smile on his face, Austin was starting to feel more like home each day, he loved his job and the team were starting to feel like family and then of course there was Carlos.
"If you are trying to sneak in undetected then a bright yellow hoodie is not the way to go son." Owen said with an amused laugh at the coffee machine.
"I'm not sneaking in, that's impossible to do here, yellow hoodie or not." TK paused on the stairs and nodded at the rest of the crew.
"So do you want to tell me where you were last night?" Owen asked.
"Does the answer happen to involve a certain patrol officer?" Paul asked with a knowing grin.
TK sighed and moved to join the others, taking his Dad's coffee from him and ignoring his protests. "Carlos invited me over and then we fell asleep watching a movie, nothing scandalous happened."
"Why not? He's hot and you both clearly still have feelings for each other." Marjan stated.
"I'd love nothing more than for Carlos to be my son in law again, I never liked anyone you dated after him so I'm glad we've circled back round." Owen mused, patting Mateo on the shoulder when he handed him a fresh coffee.
"He's very hot and we do both still have feelings for the other but we're taking it slow so we don't ruin anything by rushing into a relationship again like nothings changed." TK explained, that wasn't the whole truth but he wasn't ready to let the team know about everything just yet.
"Well we're all rooting for you when you are ready, you look cute together." Mateo grinned.
"Thanks Probie, I'm going to go get changed now unless y'all want to talk about your relationships too?" TK asked with a teasing smile.
"Cowboy Judd is the only one that could say anything, the rest of us are all lowly singles." Marjan sighed.
"Maybe if y'all spend more time on your own love lives instead of gossiping about mine then you'll find your special someone sooner!" TK winked and headed upstairs, laughing at Marjan's protests.

TK shook his head amusedly as Officer Mitchell put handcuffs onto the racist lady, this was certainly an interesting call to say the least.
"Welcome to Texas." Carlos deadpanned as he walked up to TK.
"She was more offended at being called old than she was at being called racist."
"That's unfortunately the case a lot of the time." Carlos sighed and looked back at Mitchell.
"I have to go but I'll see you tonight?" Carlos asked hopefully.
"I'll message you when I'm on my way." TK nodded and looked Carlos up and down with a smirk.
"I'm starting to understand why so many people love a man in uniform."
"Such a tease!" Carlos laughed and kissed TK's forehead before heading back to the patrol car.
"You love it!" TK called after him with a soft smile.
----
TK knocked the door and smiled brightly at Carlos when he answered. "Dressed to impress? I would've worn more than just my yellow hoodie and sweats if I'd known."
"I know it looks like a whole thing but I promise it's not, it's just dinner, I promise." Carlos assured as TK walked in.
"And I love when you wear this hoodie, I didn't think you'd still have it after all of this time." Carlos said honestly, it was a nice surprise when TK had turned up to the house wearing it the day before.
"Of course I still have it, it's the very first present you ever gave me." TK smiled and pulled the hood down. "It's my favourite hoodie."
"That's high praise considering just how many hoodies you own." Carlos said, offering TK a mineral water.
"You still like fish right?" Carlos checked as he got the fish out of the oven.
"I love fish, especially when it's you making it." TK said as he looked at the table which was set up nicely.
TK felt the urge to flee the longer he looked at the table but he believed Carlos when he said he wasn't trying to push anything and that it's just dinner. Carlos would never try and push him before he was ready, he just needed to remind himself of that as he sat down.
"I can get changed and get rid of the table decor if it's too much, I might've gone a little overboard." Carlos bit his lip as he placed the food on the table, noticing TK's hesitation.
"I'm sorry it's just the last time I was at a fancy dinner like this I was getting my heartbroken, it's all a little fresh still." TK admitted, he hated that Alex was ruining this for him without even being here.
"I'm going to get changed and we can sit on the couch and watch a bad rom com while eating dinner, how's that sound?" Carlos suggested as he blew out the candles.
"Sounds like the perfect night to me." TK let out a breath he didn't realise he was holding and got up from the table.
"I'm sorry for ruining the night you had planned."
"You didn't ruin anything at all Ty, your company is what I was looking forward to, not a fancy table layout." Carlos assured and moved closer so he could cup TK's face in his hands.
"I'm sorry for not checking beforehand."
"You've got nothing to be sorry for, I didn't mention anything about this before so you wouldn't have known. It's just miscommunication on both of our sides." TK leaned into the touch and kissed Carlos' hand softly.
"Go get changed and I'll set up the worst sounding movie I can find." TK said after a few moments when neither of them had moved.
"I'll even dig out a hoodie for me to wear, be extra comfortable." Carlos smiled and kissed TK's head before heading upstairs, thankful that the night hadn't ended before it had even started.
