“We have to tell them, Gina. I’m sorry.”
Gina Linetti looks into her girlfriend’s piercing brown eyes— if brown eyes can even be piercing, anyways —and frowns.
“Why? Why do we have to tell them, Rosa? Why can’t we just keep it a secret? I love keeping it a secret. Y’know, when Charles and I were fucking, it was so… cool, this idea of being in a relationship that nobody knows about— well, until Jake and Amy found out. And then eventually everyone. I still can’t believe Charles kept it a secret for that long. He’s so—”
“Gina, Gina. Stop. I don’t wanna hear about you and Charles having sex.”
Gina nods and starts twirling her hair around her index finger— one of her biggest tells when she’s nervous. “No, no, you’re right, of course not.” She takes a deep breath and gives Rosa a tight smile. “Can we please not tell them? I’m scared.”
“I’m scared too.” Rosa reaches out and holds Gina at arm’s length, somehow managing to be firm and gentle at the same time. “But if we want this to become… something, we’re gonna have to tell everyone.” She sighs heavily and raises her eyes to the heavens. “Even if it means Hitchcock fetishising us and asking us perverted questions, or Charles asking us when we’re getting married, or— shit, if we get married, would I become part of the Boyle-Linetti family? Fuck, fuck, fuck, no way. I like Charles, but—”
Gina holds a hand up over Rosa’s crimson-painted lips and shushes her. “ Marriage? Seriously? Rosa, girl, you know I love you, but we’re only—”
“What?”
“What?” Gina repeats, looking confused.
“You love me?”
“Hells yeah, girl. What’s not to love? I mean, you’re smart, funny, and damn, if you’re not fine as hell, then…” She trails off and smiles at her girlfriend, her baby-blue eyes shining.
Rosa smiles as well, something she’s been doing a lot more since she and Gina started dating. “I love you too.” she mutters, looking down at the floor.
“Let’s go tell them then, hm? The worst that could happen is everyone gets crazy jealous ‘cause we’re more in love than they’ll ever be. Even Jake and Amy.”
