“Mother Claire, can we play in the garden?”
“Please please can we?”
“Of course you can do that. Take Relaire with you as well.”
“Of course!”
“We always play with her lots!”
“Very good, then off you go.”
“Yaaaay!”
And there they go. It has been a while since the revolution happened and our two daughters May and Aleah moved in with us. Part of me still needs to get used to a lot of stuff but according to Rei I am adapting faster than I think I am.
“Oh Claaaaire!”
Speaking of which.
“What is it Rei, I am in the next room you don’t need to shout.”
“Oh? What is this I wonder. Are you inviting me or something? Oh my Miss Claire, how bold!”
“I am NOT doing any of what you’re implying!”
“Playing hard to get as always I see.”
“We are a couple, Rei. I don’t think saying that makes much more sense at this point. Anyway, what is the matter?”
“Oh right, I almost forgot being captivated by your presence.”
“I don’t even have the energy to keep reacting to your randomness all day…”
With that said she took something she had hidden behind her back and gave it to me.
“A box?”
“Open it, Miss Claire.”
It was a small white box with a white bow on top of it. I proceeded to place the box on the desk to open it in a safe manner. In it was-
“Candy?”
“Bobooo, try again.”
I took one of the little white candies and placed them into my mouth.
“It’s sweet! Is this chocolate?!”
“Correct! 100 Points for My precious Miss Claire!”
“But how? This is white! Chocolate is brown. Nevermind the color, this must have been expensive!”
“The most expensive part of this was actually the box itself. For the chocolate actually…”
From what Rei told me White chocolate is made from part of the chocolate bean which is used for the regular chocolate I know. And to make it you only need to use cocoa butter. The difference between the two kinds of chocolate is also apparently the melting point. To be honest I don’t really get most of what she said so I trust that she knows what she is doing, thinking back to the other confectionaries that she made in the past.
“But what is the occasion for this Rei? I know you like to make sweets but you never made something like this.”
“That’s because today is White Day!”
“White what?”
“White Day. It is a day where you gift something back to the person who gave you a gift on Valentines Day a month prior. The value of the gift is also higher of the received gift.”
“Okay I understand. It is one of those holidays of your old world, right?”
“Once again 1000 Points to Miss Claire”
“I got 100 points before that!”
“Ah don’t get hung up on those small details.”
“Why am I the weird one?!”
“Hahaha, it never gets boring with you. Anyway, try one of them, I’m sure you will like them.”
“We are not done with thi- This is delicious!”
This was no exaggeration, this tastes great! It is a lot sweeter than the normal kind of chocolate which sometimes has a bitter touch to it when it is darker. There is also a slight fruity side taste.
“This is great Rei! This must have been hard to make.”
“Actually it is almost the same amount of work as the normal kind of chocolate, if not even less to a degree.”
“Is that so? Well it is very delicious.”
“That makes me happy to hear. That means this was a total success!”
Eating another piece, it just came to me.
“Hold on, you said that you give something on White Day as a return gift for Valentine's Day right?”
“Yeah, that is correct. You’re paying so much attention to what I say, we should totally get married right now!”
“Hold on and calm yourself for one second!”
“Oh, are we going to get married after this? I can’t wait to tell everyone!”
“I said hold on! I didn’t give you anything last month though, so it doesn’t line up with what you said.”
“Oh you’re getting caught up in unnecessary details again. Typical Claire right there.”
“Wait, I am the strange one again?! Me?!”
This is not getting anywhere, but I guess I got used to that kind of daily exchange with her. I mean after all I do love her for who she is.
“Mother Rei, mother Claire, what is all the noise about?”
“Oh look Mother Claire has candy, not fair!”
“I also want some mother Rei…”
“Don’t worry you little sunshines, don’t you worry about your definitely favorite mother forgetting about you two!”
“This is no competition Rei!”
“I know, I am kidding. Haha”
With that said Rei went back to the kitchen and came back with two small white bags with a Pink and Blue bow on them. Without hesitating the twins both opened their bags.
“Look May, white candies!”
“I also got candies!”
“Don’t eat too much now though because we’re having lunch soon.”
““Okaaaay!””
“Oh it is so sweet!”
“You’re right, it is melting on my tongue!”
Relaire who was with them also happily ate one piece that they gave her.
“Haha, I’m happy that everyone likes their gift.”
“There is no way a gift from you would not make us happy, Rei.”
“Yeah! Mother Claire is right! We love all the presents you give to us!”
“Thank you all…For real…”
Oh what is that? Are those tears I see in her eyes?
“Oh mother Rei is crying?!”
“Why are you sad, mother Rei?”
“Oh nono, I am not sad. I am happy to be here with you all and share this moment with everyone.”
Hearing that I was not able to hold myself back and hugged her.
“Miss Claire!? What is it?”
“Just accept this hug for now. You are not the only one feeling this way. We all are happy to share this moment with each other.”
“Yeah, mother Claire is right! We love this very much as well, mother Rei!”
With that everyone was hugging Rei.
“Thank you everyone. I love all of you the most in the world!”
She really is the strangest girl I have ever seen in my life… But I will never regret meeting her.
