Work Text:

Satine Kryze marched angrily towards the man with auburn hair.

“What on Mandalore was so important that you called me to the other side of the PLANET ? Believe it or not, Obi, I do have more important things to do rather than just gallivanting around the planet in the middle of the day. You can not just take me away from my duties as duchess and you know that! As much as I love you, I do still have a planet and 1,500 star systems to rule, you know. ”

Obi-Wan Kenobi stated in an alluring tone:

“You’ll see where we are going soon enough, my dear. I promise that this little adventure will not be a waste of your precious time.”

Satine rolled her eyes. She absolutely could not believe that she had allowed this sensuous man to beguile her. She did have more important things to do, like go to meetings, and rule her planet.

“Obi-Wan, I do not have time for this,” Satine said.

Obi-Wan replied by covering her eyes with his hands and saying,

“Just follow me, ner cyare.

Satine blushed and let the handsome man lead her to their mystery destination.

Satine held her hands in front of her body as Obi-Wan led her to an unknown area. Satine hated surprises.

Obi-Wan finally stopped after what felt like endless walking to Satine, and she wondered if they were finally to their destination. Obi-Wan said,

“Are you ready, my darling?”

Satine huffed and stated

“As ready as I’ll ever be, cyar’ika.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi wasn’t flustered by many things, but he could never help himself from blushing ear to ear when Satine spoke to him in Mando’a. He knew she also could not resist him when he spoke to her in her mother tongue, so he always made an effort to use it when the occasion called for it.

“Surprise,” he whispered into her ear in a soft, seductive tone. He then took his hands off of her eyes to reveal the scenery surrounding them.

Satine cried out:

“Osi’Kyr!”

Satine opened her eyes and was immediately taken aback by the overwhelming sights surrounding her. She saw a vast horizon of trees along with a stream behind the field of grass and flowers. The water flowed beautifully and it sparkled like the crystals that filled the caves of Mandalore. The sights and sounds alone were almost enough to make Satine cry, let alone the pulchritudinous picnic that was laid out in front of the couple. There were many beautiful dishes in front of them, however, Satine could not see any of the dishes positioned in front of them. Obi-Wan had made a grand effort to cook and prepare savory pies, bottles of alcohol, cake slices, soup, and more delicately made food items. He also made an even bigger effort to conceal the surprise dishes until the time was right.

“I hope this is well worth my duchess’s precious time,” Obi-Wan said with a smug smile, as he took Satine’s hands and led her to the blanket with hidden foods laid upon it. Satine sat down and smoothed her rose quartz colored dress.

“Oh, Obi! It's absolutely gorgeous!” Satine said as she teared up and smiled.

“Oh, ner cyar’ika, nothing will ever be as gorgeous as you. You have eyes that sparkle like the crystalline waters, your skin that shines like fine porcelain, your soft hair that shines like the morning sun.”

Satine’s face heated up. She smoothed Obi-Wan’s beard and cupped her hands around his face. She knew she shouldn’t.

But he looked so handsome. His auburn hair rustled like the Autumn leaves and his blue eyes swam like the ocean. She just couldn’t resist.

Satine leaned in and kissed Obi-Wan.

It was only a short kiss, for she then realized the extent of what she had done. Her mind raced as she feared that Obi-Wan would be angry, or that her display of affection would make him even more conflicted. She fearfully stated:

“Obi- I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have done tha-”

Satine was cut off as Obi-Wan crashed his lips against hers. Satine’s eyes widened as she asked herself what they were doing, but she quickly stopped thinking entirely while she let her emotions engulf her. She couldn’t defy the urge to explore more of him. She ran her hands through his hair and pulled Obi-Wan closer to him. Satine pulled her hands down his chest and gripped his shirt. She groaned as Obi-Wan slid his hands around her waist and ran them up her back. They deepen their kiss, wanting more and more. They wanted to let go and give in to their feelings. They lingered in their state of love for another minute or two. They finally stopped to take a breath after what felt like hours to them. Obi-Wan placed his forehead on Satine’s and mumbled,

“The food is getting cold, my dear. We should eat so I can show you all of the treats I made just for you.”

He then kissed her quickly and moved to the other side of the blanket. Obi-Wan had spent weeks learning about Mandalorian dishes, sneaking around the palace to gather the ingredients, experimenting as well as learning how to make them, and preparing them for today. It had also been an effort in itself to get away from the Jedi enough to prepare all of this. Today had to be special, after all, Obi-Wan Kenobi was going to confess his love for the first person. He loved Satine, and he had loved her since he laid eyes on her all those years ago when they were on the run.

Obi-Wan smirked at Satine. He was ready to unveil his big surprise for her.

“For our main course, we have Red Gourd Soup and Roba Pie . Made by me, with love, of course.” He added a smug wink to that statement. Satine blushed and exclaimed,

“You made Mandalorian dishes for me!”

“That isn’t even half of it,” Obi-Wan said as he unveiled thickly sliced Varos and Cassius Tea . “And for later tonight when we’re feeling a little bit more… adventurous,” he uncovered the two bottles of Tihaar .

Satine put a devilish grin on her face while she said,
“And if I’m feeling adventurous now?”

“Then we’ll drink the tea later,” he said, matching her mischievous smile and lightly kissing her cheek. He poured two glasses of the potent alcohol and handed one to his duchess. It was going to be a long night.

A few glasses of Tihaar, and a lot of food later, Obi-Wan and Satine were drunk and exhausted. It was getting dark and they both knew they should have been back to the palace a long time ago, but neither of them wanted to. The guards might notice that the duchess was gone, but they wouldn’t give a second thought to Obi-Wan. After all, who would suspect a duchess and a Jedi together? The Jedi and his duchess were recalling stories from their time on the run. They laughed hysterically when Satine brought up the Venom Mite Incident, where Obi-Wan got mauled by the mites and Satine only got a scar from Kenobi dropping her! They also spoke solemnly about the late Qui-Gon Jinn. He was like a father to both of them, and the couple drunkenly sobbed when recalling their memories of him.

They had spent quite a bit of time together since their reunion during the earlier days of The Clone Wars, but this was by far the most alone time they had ever gotten. Even when they were on the run, Qui-Gon was almost always with them. Yes, they did get some intimate moments, but Qui-Gon seemed to always be one step ahead of both of them.

Satine hiccupped, then yawned. Both her and Kenobi were very tired, and neither of them wanted to walk back to the cottage where the ship that brought them both to this side of the planet was. Obi-Wan wished he had taken the ship to the picnic site. But he didn’t; so he simply cleared the blanket of all their empty dishes, and laid down next to Satine. The drunken Jedi impulsively said,

“You know what? I love you Satine Kryze!”

Satine giggled, “do you really Obi?” She scooched closer to him. “You’ve never said you loved me before, I actually don’t think you’ve ever told anyone you love them! Is there a special occasion tonight, my love?”

“My darling, Satine, there is no special occasion. I truly love you, and I always have.”
“I love you too, Obi-Wan.”

They fell asleep under the stars, in each other’s warm embrace. They were both so comfortable around each other that they had both forgotten about the palace guards who were all frantically looking for the duchess right about now.

Obi-Wan Kenobi wasn’t easily panicked, but when he woke up at dawn to the sound of his commlink screaming at him, he was terrified of the repercussions that would follow their decision to stay in the flowery field. Satine’s commlink was also frantically beeping, so Obi-Wan shook her awake. Satine gasped when she was shaken, she was wondering where they were, and how they somehow slept through the night when it was only supposed to be a light nap. Obi-Wan saw the dazed and confused look on her face, and responded,

“Satine, we were really, really drunk last night.”

“I just cannot believe that we slept through the night; and that we did not hear our commlinks!”

Satine and Obi-Wan both felt awful. They had drinken a lot the previous night. They both realized that they would need a very good excuse for why they had been gone last night. The commlinks were still beeping agitatedly, they knew they had to come up with an excuse, and fast. Obi-Wan looked at Satine and provided his idea:

“We say that there was a bounty hunter or another perpetrator, and we add that due to the high risk involved we could not use our communication devices until we were absolutely sure the offender was gone. It will be crucial that we have a convincing story for how the attacker fled, any ideas?”

Satine added, “We could say that the culprit saw I was accompanied by a Jedi master and let me go, but we would have to start our story by saying that I was abducted on a walk of some sort. Um… I was out on a walk through the gardens when he snuck behind me and took me onto his ship. I used my communication device to contact you, but the attacker noticed through my signal.”

They both nodded in mutual agreement. They had come up with their story: Satine was on a morning walk through her personal gardens, when an attacker snuck up behind her and took her to his ship. While he was piloting the ship to their destination on the other side of the planet, Satine took out her hidden communications device and contacted Obi-Wan, who was conveniently in range and came to rescue her. Obi-Wan escaped with the duchess as the attacker fled. However, they didn’t believe it was safe to send any messages until they were sure the culprit was off-world.

Yes. This plan would work. It’s believable, because who would suspect that a Jedi Master  and The Duchess of Mandalore were in love? Even better, who would believe that they had spent the night together? They grabbed the commlink and accepted the calls, one at a time.

Obi-Wan clicked the comm on and the guard frantically said, “Master Kenobi? We cannot find the duchess! Please, we need help.”

Satine reluctantly turned hers on, “Duchess?! We’ve been looking for you everywhere! We called Master Kenobi for help since we found his signal nearby. Where are you? What happened?”

Obi-Wan explained their situation, and told the guard their phony excuse. The guards unsurprisingly believed the story, and said that they would send a transport to come get them. Satine and Obi-Wan sighed with relief that they hadn’t gotten caught.

The couple shared one last kiss as the ship landed. Satine stated,

“I love you, Obi.”

“I love you too, Satine.”

The couple boarded the ship and sat politely as they headed back to Mandalore.
