Work Text:
It's nice and cozy laying under the kotatsu next to Gin.
The both of you skipped class again to hang out and do literally anything else besides listen to some fake teachers give fake lessons in a fake high school built in a fake world, because who thought recreating school life down to the boring details would be a good idea? So instead you two were at your place to kill time and enjoy each other's company. He brought a stack of his comic books with him while you aimlessly scrolled Gossiper, skimming the latest in petty drama to try locating the cat videos.
"Hey, check out this one," you say, nudging Gin's arm and showing him your phone for the nth time this past hour. "She's singing when her owner plays the piano."
Gin lowers the comic in his hands and glances at your phone. "Haha aww, that's cute." He then promptly raises the book back up and goes back to reading.
Oh. That totally didn't hurt your feelings at all. Not even by a little bit.
You bring your phone back to your chest and huff a little to vent your frustration. He ignores you. You flop to your other side and groan a little louder this time. He still ignores you. You consider kicking his feet or something, but maybe that's going too far, so you don't. He's incredibly determined to ignore your internal struggle on how to get his attention.
Ugh, jerk. Maybe you can bribe him with fruit. There's a bowl of tiny mandarin oranges on the top of the kotatsu, so you sit up and grab one.
"Hey," you start. "Do you wanna share half of this if I peel it?"
His nose is still buried in the comic book, but he gives a nonchalant shrug. "Sure."
That's as good as it'll get, you guess. After you manage to dig your nails under the peel, you make quick work of the orange and have several little sections ready to go. You scooch back down next to Gin and offer a piece to him.
A devilish idea pops into your head as you send him an innocent smile. "Say 'ah' for me."
Gin lowers the comic a little as he obliges. Just as he's about to accept the slice of orange from you, you withdraw your hand and stuff the fruit into your own mouth. The look of absolute betrayal on his face as he finally turns to face you is priceless.
"Seriously?" Gin glares at you as you swallow. "What was that for?"
"Pay attention to me! I'm bored!" You stick your tongue out at him. "Isn't it confusing to read those things backwards anyway? They're left-to-right and the panels are all messed up "
"Well, I was having fun, and that's just how American comics are." He sets the book down and grimaces. "So are you gonna share the rest of that or not?"
You hold the remainder of the mandarin orange in your open palm and meet his gaze defiantly. He frowns, and for a moment, neither one of you moves or speaks. The air is still. All is silent. It's a complete stalemate.
Until your phone starts ringing. Gin takes this chance to try reaching for the orange, which is your cue to shove the rest of it down the hatch. He sits there and stares at you with utter disgust while you chew loudly.
"You did not just do that," Gin says, disbelief dripping in his voice.
Licking your lips, you can't help but laugh at his cute little pout.
You make the mistake of closing your eyes for even a split second when he suddenly pulls you down, reaching for the hem of your shirt to tickle you. His fingers dance on your exposed skin as you writhe and laugh even harder than before.
"A—ahaha, stop!" you plead uselessly. "Gin! I'm sorry! Please— ahahaha!!"
He smirks. "Y'know I'm not above fighting dirty."
"Nooooo— ahahaha!!"
Gin continues attacking your sides relentlessly and mercilessly with his featherlight touch. You attempt to tickle him back, but he's quick to wrap his arms around you and bring you to his chest.
"Apologize properly this time," he huffs at you.
Your lungs almost hurt from all that laughing as you catch your breath. "Sorry for eating your part of the orange."
"And?"
"I'm sorry for being adorable?"
"Try again."
"I'm sorry for distracting you from your comic books."
"Better." Gin plants a kiss to your forehead. "Next time, just tell me if you're feeling neglected, okay? I've been looking forward to the latest volume forever now but you're more important to me."
"But I like messing with you," you joke.
"Unfortunately," Gin sighs as he lets go of you. "Can you peel me another orange? And feed me properly this time."
"Will do, partner~"
Much to his chagrin, you were already making plans to overload yourself on Vitamin C instead.
