Work Text:
“How did you know my school schedule?”
“I’ve been there, kid. Just trust me on this” the drone flew closer to the rookie Gadam villain. Not knowing whether the answer means that he’s speaking as a former student, he was a student there, or something else. “So how’s your school?”
“...it wasn’t bad for me.” Cassian walks away further from the drone, although the said floating machine keeps getting closer and following him around.
“That’s good to hear!”
“I am not joining your vilzone.”
“Oh come on kid.”
“I have something to do.” Cassian, in Gangu’s body, firmly states his choice after the offer Driver gave about days ago. “So you can, I don’t know, stop following me outside like this? Before I destroy this drone of yours.”
Driver’s drone flew a lot higher in response to that.
“Still going around watching over the district and that dark duckling?”
“Yeah.” Driver answered Crow’s question upon her seeing him rustle with a lot of drones, about 50 of them, or even 200. “I’m just worried and curious that is all” he said that with a sincere but playful tone.
“Well it’s true that not all villains in this district, are joining the vilzone.” Crow leans over the couch to observe closer about what Driver is doing right there. “But you seemed unusually interested in that kid.” she smirked.
“You know the reason, don’t you~” the current Gadam vilzone Boss, placed the repaired drones aside. “I actually didn’t plan to go this far and just letting that kid go after our deal with Bloodrain is done, well he even refused to join this vilzone.”
He remembered when the rookie villain right away refuses the subtle invitation Driver said, that time while showing around the vilzone.
“However I couldn’t be careless when I witnessed him going rampage not so long ago, with those dangerously sudden rise of points, could I?” Driver grins after finishing the explanation.
“There’s a point on that”
Both Driver and Crow turn around to find Red Eye by the workshop door entrance.
“If a villain like that kid were to go rampage ever again in the district..” the archer said, with hesitation. “...we could face an apocalypse with those enormous powers.” he was there, when Gangu (Cassian) went rage berserk mode on the near vilzone after getting into fight with Black Hand and later got provoked…or triggered by others joining the assault.
Driver chuckles, he turns back to the machines. “Thanks to him we finally able to find out the mole in our vilzone.” he said, because some while ago the vilzone’ villains he punished have ran away from the prison cell. “...anyway, I wanted to keep watching over that kid.”
Although he can force him, that comes with various risks which he’d rather not do, moreover even though the rookie has quite a temper, surprisingly he can control himself well so it’s presumably he won’t go out of control easily.
It’d be easier if the kid agreed to join the vilzone.
“This is ulterior motive, but he can be good as our weapon and I’d rather not getting that kid as an enemy of our vilzone” Driver focused on the little new drones in front of him, then placed them near the screwdrivers. “I wanna try to befriend that kid.”
“It’s rather hard to train outside isn’t it?”
Cassian does not answer that expression from the floating invisible–to others, ancient soul companion of his.
He’s not the slightest bit interested in becoming the member of Gadam vilzone.
However he is tempted by having a place to train freely. He wanted to get stronger, of course.
The offer is actually not bad, it’s even good for having some strong companions.
“I’m not joining…” Cassian stretched his arm, he’s in the morning exercise routine. “When I get to mess with Lampas, they’d be dragged on.” He has the strong will to destroy the ones framed him, however at best he doesn’t want to drag others along –especially Gangu’s family, as it’s complicated.
It’s not like he cares about that so much either, he’d still be aiming for his own goal alongside trying to keep the family Gangu cared deeply for, safe. About the vilzone it’s possible to join along and cut ties after. But based on when the villains who provoked him that time, shouted some things that sounds like information related with vilzone inner conflict, it’s himself that doesn’t want to get dragged on.
It sounds like the usual advantages and disadvantages decision.
Crow even expresses it subtly about their situation
The morning training–exercise routine continues in silence.
“Why are you giving me this again? I thought we’re done after I finished the deal on Bloodrain.” the high school student stares at the phone Driver gave back to him, and it’s after school time.
“Oh, can’t I?”
Cassian senses another motive of this friendly villain, maybe he’s thinking too much, but it’s too obvious to not care about. He then searched off his memory which possibly made the villain be ‘cautious’ on him. “Are you here, to watch over me?” straightforward as the kid shifts down the phone in his pocket.
There’s a light chuckle over the drone communication.
“What if I am?”
Figures, Cassian is aware enough that his actions are sticking out too much. And by him refusing to join Gadam vilzone, it roughly means letting a villain-attacking other villains out freely, like a lingering threat that could attack just any time.
Driver probably even remembers how he attacked him all of sudden.
“I’m not attacking unreasonably, if that’s what you’re worrying about.”
“We can’t be sure about that safely can we? You attacked me based on mere rumours.” The screwdriver user villain continues, “You need to check and be sure before attacking, kid. Someone who’s not involved could’ve gotten hurt !” He's talking about himself.
Whereas Cassian thinks he is being scolded now, remembering this just like how Tuppence often corrected him.
“...I’ll keep that in mind.”
“You know when I heard that reason of yours after attacking me, it really sounds like nonsense, you make it sounds like you’re new here.” that hits the right spot.
Cassian does not reply on that one, instead he stops walking and turns over to the drone. “You’re not going to follow me up to my home, are you?”
“Now that sounds like you’re changing the subject”
Even so, Driver decides to wrap the conversation and pulls out the drone further. “I can help you with homeworks if you want!”
“No need.”
Cassian continues to walk alone in sight with Moros.
“That villain, Driver, seemed to be keeping an eye on you,” Moros commented after the conversation. “He sounds like really wants you to join the Gadam vilzone”
The kid ruffles its own hair, that goggles villain would be a hassle if this continues.
“Well.” The lift he’s on arrived by the floor where the Gwon family lives. “Maybe I should reconsider it”
