Work Text:
It has been 1 week since Tooru didn’t attend his classes and his training. He’s been locking himself up in his room–just laying in the bed and watching his favorite series. He’s not bored at all, in fact eversince he ditched his classes and his training, he felt relaxed and not too tense unlike when he was at school or at their gym.
He turned on his laptop to continue watching Euphoria. He’s now in Season 2 and he’s planning to watch all of the episodes tonight. He’s munching on his burger and fries while waiting for his laptop to load.
If you would ask him if he misses his friends, his answer would be definitely no. He doesn’t miss any interactions he had with his friends or his teammates. Him, locking himself at his house and not going out is way better than people in his school seeing him and interacting with him.
As if anyone misses him, right?
Their lives would be better without Oikawa Tooru. Honestly, he’s just an extra character in their story and is just a nuisance in their lives. He would never forget their forced smiles when talking to him, their excuses when Tooru invited them to eat with him, and their sudden silence when Tooru came near them. It’s better if he’s the one who will leave, right? It’s for their own good, it’s for the better.
He may feel lonely but who cares! I’ll just focus on myself.
He’s thinking last night which country he would go to. It’s better to move country than him moving school. Oikawa Tooru is still there, within their reach, within their vicinity. They may feel uncomfortable that Oikawa Tooru is still living in the same country as them, eating the same food, breathing the same air, sharing the same government privileges, and so on. It just felt uncomfortable and irritating, right?
It’s honestly so sad. He thought. Tooru loves interacting with people. Even though he may be a little brat and bitchy, he loves sharing his thoughts to people. He loves it when everybody knows what he’s currently up to. But, sadly, no one wants to listen to him. He’s a blabbering bitch, spewing nonsensical words. They only see Tooru as a narcissistic and selfish brat, but he just loves to boast about his achievements.
Stop with the thinking. Stop drowning yourself with misery, just be thankful they didn’t reach you and ask about your sudden hiatus. He scolded himself. You just never learn, huh? Stop. Just stop it. They don’t miss you. Fucking stop, Tooru. Just stop. Why squeeze yourself when they didn’t ask for your company? You’re so fucking persistent. Give it up already. You fucking bitch–
“OIKAWA TOORU!” Tooru’s thoughts were interrupted when he heard someone scream outside. It followed with a loud banging on his door.
Who the fuck is screaming and kicking at my door? He thought. Tooru paused what he was watching and got up to see who’s banging at his door.
When he opened his door, he was surprised when he saw…
“Iwa-chan?”
Iwaizumi’s face was grim and didn't have any hint of gleam on his eyes. He stared at Oikawa.
Why is he here? Tooru was ready to accept Iwaizumi’s scolding and he was ready to be hit by his boyfriend. After all, he left him with no explanation. He cut all ties with him. But, instead of being hit, he was welcomed with his Iwa-chan’s sweet tone.
“Where have you been?”
This breaks Tooru’s heart because No, Iwa-chan. You shouldn’t do this. He wants to cry there, to tantrums, to lay there and just spill all the worries in his heart to his Iwa-chan but he shouldn’t. They had too much, they had too much of Oikawa Tooru’s problems and worries. He shouldn’t spill anymore. He shouldn’t dump his problems on them anymore. He’s too much to handle. Too much work.
“Why are you here?” Tooru asked his boyfriend firmly. He’s cold as ice.
Iwaizumi tried to reach for Tooru’s hands but Tooru swatted it away. Iwaizumi understands that Tooru doesn’t want to be touched.
“Have you eaten?” Iwaizumi asked. He held up the plastic bag that he was holding eversince he got there. “I brought you food…” The raven said while looking at the food he bought.
Silence enveloped between them.
“This is the milk bread that you like. I also bought you apple juice…” Iwaizumi looked at Tooru’s eyes. “I’m sorry if it took 1 week before I went here. I just want to give you space. And–”
“Fucking stop.” Tooru gritted. This is complete bullshit. Why is he here? His Iwa-chan shouldn’t be here. Tooru did them a favor by leaving them and cutting ties with them so they can live a happier and more relaxed life.
“Tooru, I understand you.”
“No, you don’t.” Tooru replied firmly. Truth be told, no one can understand him just like how Iwaizumi understands him. His Iwa-chan is so patient. He doesn’t force Tooru to spill his problems to him, lays next to him when he doesn’t have the energy to interact with people, takes care of him and makes sure he eats and sleeps on time. Iwaizumi also makes time for him and accompanies him whenever he feels like eating outside late at night.
“Baby, I completely understand you. You don’t need to hide yourself from me.” Iwaizumi persisted.
Iwaizumi held his hand and tucked the stray strands of his hair. “You know you can always lean on me, right? You can pour your worries on me. I will always listen.”
Tooru’s eyes are glued on the ground, tears slightly grimming on his eyes. “This is wrong. I don’t need your help. I can definitely do this alone.”
Iwaizumi forced Tooru to look at him and cupped his cheeks. “The only thing that isn’t good here is you far away from me.”
Tears started to spill from Tooru’s eyes. “You’re gonna get tired of me.”
“I will never get tired of you, Tooru.”
Tooru swatted Iwaizumi’s hand away. Anger evident in his face. “Can’t you understand?! I’m just doing you a favor here! You will not be happy when you’re with me! Stay the fuck away from me!”
Iwaizumi pained him seeing his boyfriend pushing him away. “What do you mean I will not be happy when I’m with you?”
Tooru wiped his tears away. “‘Cause you already saw the great sides of me! I have nothing to offer anymore!”
Iwaizumi frowned. “What, you mean if I already see your great side I should leave you?”
Tooru nodded. His head buried in his hands. “I am a bad person. I will just tire you out. I’m too much work..” Tooru sighed. “Please… I’m begging you. Just leave.”
Tooru was about to turn his back away when Iwaizumi firmly held his hand. “What about your laugh? Whenever I hear you sing with your out of tune voice, whenever you complain about how limited milk breads are in the store, whenever you ask me to go with you when your mother asks you to buy groceries? Tooru, these things are what makes me happy and want me to stay with you.”
“I want to know everything about you and after that protect you from everything.” Tooru couldn't control his tears anymore and started to sob. Iwaizumi pulled the brunette into his embrace.
Iwaizumi caressed Tooru’s hair. “If you need someone to listen to you, I’m always here. I’m gonna listen to you anytime even though it’s not important and is all about simple things.” Tooru continued to cry on the raven’s shoulder. “I can listen to you even if it’s just about how tasty milk bread is. Even when I’m asleep, you can call me right away, I will answer.”
Iwaizumi tightened his hug with Tooru and let Tooru’s head lay on his head. “Please lean on me.”
Tooru’s cries toned down. He decided to face his Iwa-chan. “Iwa-chan, I doubted you again…”
Iwaizumi made a small smile. “It’s okay, baby.”
“Iwa-chan, I’m so sorry.” Tooru apologized.
Iwaizumi shushed him. “You have nothing to apologize for, baby. Just promise me that whenever you feel like this, you’ll always tell me. No secrets, okay?”
“Okay, Iwa-chan.” Tooru replied while Iwaizumi was wiping his tears away.
“I love you so much, Tooru.”
“I love you too, Iwa-chan.”
