Work Text:
Thanatos knocks over the small bottle of black nail polish, but Megaera is quick to catch it before any spills.
“Thanks.”
“Don’t mention it.” She picks up the brush again, taking Thanatos’ fingers between hers. “So, you and Zagreus?”
Thanatos flushes. “It’s— It’s not—”
“Relax, Than.” She lets out a small chuckle, almost imperceptible.
“But you two… Aren’t you…?”
Megaera shrugs. “So? We’re gods, not some mortals holding onto one person like they’re our whole lives. Give me your other hand.”
Thanatos complies, checking the painted nails on his left hand as Megaera starts working on her right. She’s right, the only gods he knows to be monogamous are Hades and Persephone, but Megaera is the jealous one, after all, so he’d expected more resistance from her about his and Zagreus’ feelings for each other.
“Well, he… he said he likes me, but then he said we should take our time. I’m not sure what to do.”
“Go to him, Than, that’s what you should do. As much fun as it’s been to see you two dance around each other, I think it’s time you two finally resolve things.”
Thanatos wishes he could refute that, but he can’t. “Thanks, Meg.”
Megaera smiles. “Maybe down the line, we can all have some fun together. I know back then we both just needed to blow off some steam, but I have to say, I miss you, Than.”
“I… Yes, that would be nice, I think. I miss you too, Meg.”
Megaera lets go of his now painted right hand, then kisses him on the cheek, loud and cheesy. He can feel the lipstick mark on there, but he’s not particularly keen to take it off. “All done. Go get him.”
