Of course, Jisung absolutely didn't know about anything. You couldn't blame him. But that didn't seem to help in this situation. Stuck between being horrified and shocked, Jisung regretted not seeing the signs earlier. If he had, he would be able to avoid this awkward situation.
As the scene played in front of him, his mind suddenly took a rewind starting from earlier that morning until that fateful moment. Unbelievably, he saw it all, the underlying stuff and meaningful actions. He berated himself mentally for being stupid. Just why didn't I realize it then? He thought miserably.
You're probably confused, aren't you? Well, let's take a little flashback.
It was earlier that day when Jisung's stomach rumbled in protest, waking him up. He swore he could hear it asking for food. Sleepily, he got up to wake his roommate up when he remembered his secretly favorite hyung wasn't his roommate anymore.
Ah matda, Jaemin-hyung is rooming with Jeno-hyung now, he thought haltingly, his brain still a little fogged with sleep.
Without so much of a glance to his still sleeping roommate, he half-walked, half-dragged himself outside their room. Eyes still half-closed and very much acting like a zombie, he slowly made his way to his hyungs' room. He didn't bother knocking, silently thanking whoever it was who didn't lock the door, as he barged into the room.
"Hyung-"
Before he could even process his surroundings, a pillow smacked his face, making him stagger. He was wide awake now and very extremely annoyed.
"Hey! What was that for?" He said irritatingly as he snatched the offending pillow from the floor and glared at the room's occupants. Jisung startled as he took in the scene in front of him. Jaemin was sitting on his bed at the top bunk, looking oddly flustered as he stared wide-eyed at Jisung. The maknae was even more startled as his eyes roamed down and saw Jeno. He was sitting on the floor, clutching at his ribs as he glared up, equally flustered, at Jisung.
"Uh what are you doing down there, hyung?"
Quite impossibly, Jeno's glare intensified. Jisung unconsciously took a step back.
"What are you doing here, Jisung-ah?" Jaemin suddenly asked. Looking extremely uncomfortable under Jeno's gaze, Jisung tried to ignore it and watch Jaemin instead as he hastily climbed down from the top bunk.
"I'm, uh, hungry," Jisung replied stupidly.
He heard Jeno laughed with no mirth. He glanced at the older guy warily. Jeno tried to get up, wincing as he did so. Jaemin held his arm and helped him up. He winced again as he touched his backside tenderly. Jaemin looked at him worriedly but he waved him off muttering, "I'm fine, really" and sending glares at Jisung's way.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to- Jisung surprised me-" Jaemin was saying worriedly.
"I said I'm fine, Jaemin-ah," Jeno cut him off, exasperated yet he said it in a gentle tone.
Jisung looked at them, his eyes darting back and forth. He should have seen it by then. It was so obvious yet he remained stupidly oblivious.
He cleared his throat and asked, "What's the matter with you tw- Uh, nevermind." He hastily said as Jeno glared at him midway. He heard Jaemin sigh.
"Just wait outside, Jisung-ah. I'll cook us some breakfast in a minute," Jaemin said as he sent a look saying, drop it, to Jisung's way.
He wanted to pry more but his stomach rumbled its protest again. So instead, he just gave a small nod and left it at that. He should have never left it at that but again, food tops in his priority list.
The next instance when he should have realized anything was when he hovered at the kitchen door moments later.
He was awfully hungry then. His hyung was taking his time way too long. He could smell his favorite breakfast cooking from the door even when it was closed, could hear the sizzling and the scraping sound of utensils. And he could also hear the bickering. He huffed as he realized what took Jaemin-hyung so long. Ah, not another banter with Jeno-hyung again, he groaned as he thought. They could go on for ages.
"-on't care. We have plenty more days to be healthy after this. I just want some-"
"No. You said the same thing yesterday-"
"But I'm craving for it-"
"I said no. Yah Jeno Le-"
"Look at you! Cooking Jisung's favorite but ignoring my request!"
"Because it's uri Jisungie!"
Jeno's voice suddenly lessened in volume as he gave a grumbled reply. Jisung could only hear snippets above the increasing sizzling sound.
"-lways him...-on't love me anym-..."
Jaemin shot back a long reply to which Jisung could only make out a few snippets.
"...-he's uri aegideul...-ere's a difference...-lousy does not look good on you..."
Their next words got lost in incoherent mumbles and grumbles that Jisung wasn't able to keep up. That was until Jeno's aegyo voice suddenly rang clear as the sizzling sound downed to a minimum.
"Ugh molla! Just- Aigh, Jaemin-ah fried rice! I want frie-"
"Andwae!"
"Dwae!"
"Andw- mmph!"
There were cluttering and groaning sounds as the bickering voices suddenly stopped. Jisung strained to hear what had happened but nothing came except for the dull sizzling sound. Puzzled at what had occured but relieved because they finally stopped, he raised his hand to knock on the door.
"Hyung?" He asked tentatively.
There was suddenly a clutter, then a bang, a piercing yowl, and surprised ows. Then there was a string of muffled curses.
Oops. Did I cause something...?
Knowing that the damage has been done, he winced as he opened the door slowly. I think I'm gonna be a victim of Jeno's glares today, he thought miserably. Even though he was a little terrified of what would wait for him inside, he squared his shoulders, ready to brave danger. If I wasn't too hungry, I wouldn't be doing this.
"Hyung...?" He opened the kitchen door slowly, his head peeking a bit. Jisung could only see Jeno's hunched form, scowling and hissing at his hands. Jaemin was in a flurry, rummaging around the kitchen cabinets, muttering where's that damned first aid kit. A few utensils and a pot was scattered on the floor.
Jeno looked up when he heard Jisung's small voice. Immediately, his scowl deepened, glaring daggers at the youngest. He opened his mouth, probably to say something really nasty, but Jaemin cut him to it.
"Give me your hand," Jaemin said as he walked back to where Jeno was hunched, holding a first aid kit. He placed the kit on the kitchen counter as Jeno reluctantly raised his probably injured hand towards the other man.
He watched as Jeno grumbled something unintelligible while Jaemin brushed his knuckles on Jeno's injury. Jeno flinched as Jaemin tended his hand but relaxed as the other whispered soothing words.
Jisung didn't know what to do. He felt like he was watching something private... something intimate. He didn't dare move, for fear of breaking the moment. He had an inkling of what happened, Jeno-hyung probably scalded himself, although I'm not sure how.
He let the door swing open as he stood there awkwardly, watching as Jeno whined softly while Jaemin took care of him. Jeno was still scowling, but it didn't reach his eyes. Jaemin tutted at him, amusement visible as he leaned into his ear, whispering. Jeno visibly shuddered, a dust of pink spread on both his cheeks. Jaemin grinned as he leaned back and held Jeno's eyes, his eyes twinkling, his hand gently ghosting over Jeno's. Jeno stared back, something unfathomable dancing in his eyes.
It felt like Jisung was forgotten, the both of them consumed in their own world. Jisung was disgruntled and awkward. He felt like he was intruding onto something, although he couldn't quite put a finger on it. His stomach probably thought otherwise as it suddenly growled loudly.
Both men jumped back away from each other, their necks snapping as they turned to look at Jisung. They looked like they just remembered him being there.
"Uh-" Jisung cleared his throat. "I'll uh- just wait in the dining room." Then he fled, not waiting for any of Jeno's glares or Jaemin's reply.
Clearly, it was glaringly obvious. Jisung was just an infuriating idiot. Though that didn't stop him from becoming the worst idiot the next moment he encountered his hyungs.
After a tense breakfast, with a bewildered Renjun asking what the hell is going on with you three, a glaring Jeno and an amused Jaemin snorting every once in a while, Jisung escaped to his room, planning to play on his phone all day (since their manager reluctantly gave them a rest day). That was what he did, drowning in his own world, all the bewildering moments he witnessed earlier were forgotten.
Then his battery ran out. Frantically, he searched both for his charger and power bank. Both were nowhere to be found. Abruptly, he remembered where he left his power bank yesterday. Jeno-hyung's bunk, he thought miserably. For the next minutes, he desperately scoured his room for his charger but to no avail.
Finally, he gave up searching. I'll just play the next level tomorrow, he thought miserably as he laid on his bed. But I couldn't wait! He sighed heavily as he got up again. I can do this, he said to himself as he thought about marching towards the other room to retrieve his power bank. It's only Jeno-hyung, what am I afraid of for? He tried to calm himself down. Jaemin-hyung loves me, he'll stop Jeno-hyung from murdering me on the spot.
Okay, maybe I'm just being overly dramatic. He snorted to himself. He's probably over it, Jeno-hyung can't stay mad at me forever. I mean, I didn't even hurt him directly.
With that in mind, he soon found himself outside his hyungs' door. He sensed a deja vu, wondering idly if it was an omen of impending doom. He shook his head, thinking how he's being silly. Then without even knocking (which he regretted immensely later on), he opened their door and walked in unannounced. Then he halted in his tracks.
So this brings us to the current situation. Where Jisung realizes everything, how he regrets walking in on the scene and how he scorn himself for being the oblivious idiot that he is.
Of course, Jisung absolutely didn't know about anything. You couldn't blame him. But that didn't seem to help in this situation. Stuck between being horrified and shocked, Jisung regretted not seeing the signs earlier. If he had, he would be able to avoid this awkward situation.
Both men didn't seem to notice him this time, the were too engrossed with each other. Unable to wrench his eyes away, Jisung watched with a horrible fascination as Jaemin towered over Jeno who was pinned on his own bed. Their bodies were flushed against each other as Jaemin devoured Jeno's lips like a man who hadn't eaten for days. Jeno whimpered and gasped as he equally ravished the other man's lips, his hands were firmly pinned above his head with Jaemin's left hand. His right hand was placed possessively on Jeno's hips, gripping the older boy with familiarity that indicated how often they did this behind closed doors. It's a surprise that they were able to keep this a secret with all their moaning and groaning. It's a surprise that Renjun and I failed to notice it, he thought detachably.
As the scene played in front of him, his mind suddenly took a rewind starting from earlier that morning until that fateful moment. Unbelievably, he saw it all, the underlying stuff and meaningful actions. The soft gazes, the dusty pink on cheeks, the messy bed hairs, the the plump red lips, the flustered expressions, the flirty banters, the close proximity, everything. He berated himself mentally for being stupid. Just why didn't I realize it then? He thought miserably.
A rather loud groan made him unfreeze. He flicked his gaze fearfully at the doorway, thinking that his hyungs might not be so appreciative if Renjun accidentally heard them. Hell, they might kill me on the spot if they realize how I'm standing here stupidly. Astoundingly, both men still didn't notice him. As quietly as possible, not wanting to draw their attention, he backtracked towards the doorway.
I'll just get my power bank later, he thought miserably as he slowly swung the door to trying to close it quietly. But not before sneaking in one last glance.
In that moment, he saw how both of them parted, gasping for air. How Jaemin's heavy electric gaze fell onto Jeno's mesmerized eyes. He might still be in shock, hell he might even be scarred for life, but looking at them, he suddenly understood.
Ah, so that's why... Jisung thought as he recalled the moment when Jaemin and Jeno stared at each other in the kitchen. Jisung understood the "something unfathomable" that was dancing in Jeno's eyes earlier and that was evident on both men's eyes at that moment. Love.
That's why... Jisung thought again as he closed the door with a finality.
