Summary
“Mama,” Eddie pleads every night, “please don’t shut off the light.”
“Oh, Edmundo,” she says and she kisses his forehead. “There’s nothing to be afraid of in the dark.”
(Eddie grows up to learn that’s not quite true. There’s plenty to be afraid of in the dark. It’s just that they’re plenty to be afraid of in the light, too.)
