Work Text:
The acing of the door woke you up from your sadly not so deep slumber and with blurry vision you saw him entering the bedroom.
His hair was messy, he probably fell asleep as well, and he was still wearing the blue sweater he had thrown on when he left the bed this morning.
In his left hand was a can of tea and a mug and the right a thermometer.
You sat up slowly, scared that your head would not take any abrupt movements well, while Lee Know walked towards you, placing the beverage on the little table besides the bed and turned towards you, still holding the thermometer.
'How are you feeling?', he asked quietly, reaching his hand out to brush some strains of hair out of your face.
'Sick.', you smiled tiredly.
'Your head felt like it was burning when I gave you a kiss earlier. I don't need to check if you're having a fever. Your migraine is self explanatory, but let's check your temperature anyway, hm?', he suggested, followed by you agreeing with a simple 'sure'.
*
'39,2 degrees.', he said.
You could hear the worry in his voice.
You rarely had a fever or were sick in general, but as soon as your body temperature began increasing only a bit, your migraine started and knocked you out completely.
The only thing you could do was to sleep as much as possible, to avoid any bright light and drink a lot.
Unfortunately, you were already really sensitive towards any external stimuli, but instead of just being tired, yet still able to find some comfort in Lee Knows arms, you could not take anything in your current state, not even Lee Knows cuddles.
He put the thermometer away, placing it on the table for later and carefully placed his hand on your forehead.
'I knew you were hot, but you don't have to literally burn', he joked.
You giggled at his remark, instantly feeling your head hurt, making you frown uncomfortably.
The pain felt like little pinpricks in your head.
'Sorry.', he whispered, pulling his hand away.
'Please don't make me laugh.', you whispered back.
'I won't... Do you need anything?
You have your tea next to you, try drinking a lot, yes? If you need anything call me, oh, no, don't call me, your head might hurt.
Text me or just ring my phone and I'll come.
I could also...', he stopped when you reached out your hand, searching for his.
He grabbed yours and places a little kiss on your knuckles.
You smiled and whispered:
'Thank you. I don't need anything right now.
Did you get some more sleep this morning?
You look so tired. Did you eat breakfast?'.
He smiled fondly and whispered back:
'Yes, I fell asleep on the sofa. I didn't roll off though.', he paused and chuckled, caressing your hand.
He continued quietly:
'You mumbled such a silly story this night. As if me rolling off the bed would be the worst nightmare.'
You glared at him.
'It was a fever dream. They're always silly, but scary, okay?', you explained.
'Right. I hope you won't have any more of them.', he wished.
You smiled, you hoped so as well.
Both of you were silent for some minutes.
You closed your eyes and enjoyed that he kept caressing your hand.
Handholding was basically the only physical affection that you were comfortable with and enjoyed regardless of the situation, not even a migraine could make the feeling of Lee Knows hand on yours be something you could not take.
'So, breakfast.', he said,'I was planning on going to the bakery. I'm gonna get you custard bread?', he asked unsure.
'Thanks, but I don't think I can eat that now.
You don't have to get me anything.
I'll maybe just make a soup later.', you answered.
He furrowed his eyebrows, hesitantly saying:
'You know, you need to eat properly, especially when you're sick, right?'
'I know. Maybe bring me one custard bread, just in case.', you gave in.
He nodded, letting his face relax.
'Okay, I think I go now, I'm getting hungry.
You sure you don't need anything now?', he asked again.
'I'm fine.', you answered tiredly, feeling your head throbbing again.
He gave your hand another kiss, before he carefully placed it on the bed, pulling away, so that he could stand up.
He looked at you and took you hand again, instructing:
'Sit up for a second.'
You slowly did, not opening your eyes.
Lee Know quickly took the pillows, yours and his that were laying behind you and shook them, so that they were fresh and comfortable for you.
'Lie down again. I'm gonna redo to blankets, okay?'
'Okay', you whispered half asleep already.
He pulled the blankets away, shook them twice, but before he let them drop onto you again, tugging you in, continuing his routine by opening the window for letting in some fresh air, but still keeping the curtains closed, so that you were not exposed to the light, he stopped and saw that you were wearing the jacket that you were wearing this morning when he found you standing in the kitchen.
He put the blankets on the bed, only covering your lower body.
'Y/N?', he asked.
'Hmmm.', you groaned, wondering if he accidentally tipped over the can of tea that was standing next to the bed or anything, but he just asked:
'Could you sit up again, please? I don't want you to wear that jacket. You may get hurt by the zipper.'
Of course you would not really get hurt by lying on the zipper, but the cold metal could feel rather uncomfortable on your skin and thanks to your migraine your body would be aching easily, so in one sense or another the zipper could cause you pain.
You sat up slowly, inhaling sharply when your head sent a shockwave through your body, causing you to squint your eyes.
'Sorry.', he whispered, feeling helpless.
You didn't close the jacket, so you just had to peel out of the sleeves, but your shoulders were tense and turning from side to side would hurt your head a lot.
He hurried towards you, taking the fabric and pulling it down your shoulders and back first, followed by pulling it over your hands until he got it, hanging it over the chair.
He quickly turned back to you, taking off his blue sweater, leaving him in his grey sleep shirt.
He approached you again, handing you his warm sweater, whispering:
'Wear this instead.'
You put it on.
Pulling it over your head was painful, but it was better when you did it, able to control when it would hurt a bit.
Wearing his sweater, too big, but warm and cozy on you, you lied back down, while he was fixing the blankets properly.
You smelled the end of the sleeves that were evolving your hands and exhaled, letting your arms drop.
Feeling the fresh air hitting your face felt good and you drifted off to sleep.
He went out of the room to get ready for going to the bakery, but before he left the apartment, he went to the bedroom to close the window again.
While he did so, he heard you mumbling, immediately scared that you might have another bad fever dream.
'Yoursweatersmellslikeyou, it's... soft and... warmjustlike... yourhugs. I'm not rollingoffthe bed. LeeKnow's holdingme.'
He smiled.
You did not seem stressed and tense like you do when having a nightmare, you seemed relaxed.
He placed a note on the table that said that he is heading out to get breakfast, just in case you woke up confused, wondering where he was.
Before he left the room, he smiled looking at you, hoping that the fever would not last too long, because even though he is happy that his sweater makes you feel like he was cuddling you, keeping you warm and safe, he would much rather hold you in his embrace himself.
