Valentine's Day

Summary:

Just a little fluff I wrote on Valentine's Day for my comfort ship

Work Text:

It was my first Valentine’s Day with Mimi and we both were nervous. I was worried that I wouldn’t impress her and Mimi was worried about something arguably more important, a doctor’s appointment to see if her medication was working. We got ready and I held her hand the entire subway ride over.

“I have a really good feeling about this appointment. I’ve been feeling amazing” Mimi sounded so optimistic. I loved seeing how we’ve both changed since we met at Christmas.  I really wanted to make today special for her. When I dropped her off I hugged her, kissed her, wished her good luck and then headed to the store. Some people claim that Valentine’s Day is just a commercial holiday and while they do have a point, I know all the cheesiness makes Mimi happy. Her happiness makes me happy and that’s all I care about. I may have spent a little too much money on the decorations and Mimi’s favorite fancy chocolate but I knew the look on her face when she saw the apartment would make every last cent worth it.

I finished decorating just in time to pick Mimi up. I knew she had good news when she came out of the doctor’s office smiling.

“Hey baby, how’d it go?” I asked

“Oh it was amazing. My medication is working exactly as it should and nothing’s gotten worse since the last appointment. I knew this would be the year I turned my life around”

“I may have a surprise waiting for you when we get home” I then proceeded to ruin the surprise as I was so excited. Mimi just laughed at me and said that she couldn’t wait to see it. We decided to walk home and were laughing the entire way. I tried to give Mimi a piggyback ride but was hijacked by the still icy sidewalk.

Once we got up to the apartment I opened the door and watched Mimi’s face drop as she saw the red and pink streamers and balloons.

“Holy shit!”

“Is something wrong? Do you not like it?”

“No, no, I love it, it's just…I’ve never had someone do something like this for me before.” She paused for a second “I love you so goddamn much Roger Davis”

“I love you too Mimi Marquez”
