Snow Storms and Warm Quilts

Summary:

The tundra is a cold environment; this is common knowledge. Granted, it’s a little easier to deal with if your companion is a creature from the nether.

Work Text:

The shutters were closed tight and the fireplace was lit. Most of the house is dimly lit as most of the light came from the flames. The high winds and heavy snowfall caused the walls to creak and groan. Another snow storm had rolled around, leaving the occupants of the tundra to be huddled up in their respective homes.

Technoblade, the fabled Blood God, sat on the couch in front of the gentle flames of the fireplace. He was suited in a loose, gentle brown, long sleeve shirt and coffee toned pants. In his hands was a large mythology book, one he had read numbers of times. And yet, he would come back to it every so often. He turned to another myth, his dearest’s favorites; Hades and Persephone.

Gently stepping down the stairs came the smaller resident of Techno’s home. They adorned fuzzy socks, thick comfortable pants, and a warm sweater that was a few sizes too large on them.

With a little bit of a giggle, they whined,” Tech, I’m cold.”
He snorted and set the book down next to him. They crawl up next to him, cuddling into his side. The warmth of his body relaxes their muscles and soon they doze off into a light sleep.
Techno continued reading the book that had been placed to his side. He wanted to know the myths his small companion loved so dearly.

After a while, his mind began to wander around, the voices buzzing quietly. A few words could be heard from them here and there, mostly normal things like “E” and “pog”. Every so often there would be a small “awe” directed towards the bundled up human on Techno’s side. He had pulled the blanket off the back of the couch and draped it over their body. Initially he tried to convince chat, who had gone nuts over the action, that it was to just keep them warm and if Phil decided to pop his head in, he wouldn’t get scolded for letting them get cold. However, it was clear that he did it simply so they would sleep there longer.
Humans are much more vulnerable to extreme temperatures, particularly in comparison to his kind. Phil had explained that to him when the two helped Tommy with his frostbitten foot.

Techno shook his head a little, he didn’t want to think about that right now. Right now, he was in his cottage with someone he cared for, and things were peaceful and the days weren’t spent worrying over the members of the Greatersmp.

The bundle of warm cloth groaned, shifting to their side more. Techno stilled completely, not even inhaling in fear of waking them. He slightly prayed they fell back to sleep, it was getting late anyhow. He would stay like this all night, if they kept sleeping. And that they did.

The soreness of his neck the next morning, to him, was worth the warm and soft face of his housemate. Maybe he would have to talk with Phil about his odd feelings, but that could wait.
