Work Text:

Percival remembers the day that she met Lamorak.

It was a month after landing in the Camelot Orphanage after her parents became sick and then died. The caregivers were nice but weren’t the same, even the few adoptive parents were nice but it doesn’t feel right to call someone else her parent. So, Percival kept to herself for the most part. Never acting out but never speaking up either.

Probably why no one noticed her learning fire magic or when she punch one of the older kids straight in the face for ganging up on some child. Percival was joining herself, sitting under a tree while reading and keeping an eye on the other children that are playing at the bottom of the hill. A few of the caregivers were sitting around, enjoying the sunshine just as much as the rest of them, but failed to notice a group of kids walking up to a hawk child.

Percival noticed but figured that they were friends.

She kept an eye on them anyway.

The group came up to the child and stood around them, a few standing a bit further away to keep guard. It’s when the leader of the kids lean down and looks about ready to punch the hawk did Percival leapt to her feet and ran down the hill before she know what was happening.

The older kid was down on the ground and holding his cheek while Percival stands in front of the child with her fist raised and ready to fight. Her knuckles hurt and she badly wanted to stand down to get it looked at but she kept her guard up. Instead of fighting, the group left quickly. Percival knows she’s going to be in trouble and won’t have time to explain her side of the story before being put into time out but that doesn’t matter right now.

The cat turns around to face the child, who still sitting on the ground but is staring wide-eyed up at her. Percival held her hand out and the hawk took it; she pulled him onto his feet and from that moment on they became a duo.

Becoming siblings, then knights in training, meeting Lancelot and Galahad. Leaving the orphanage once Percival turned eighteen.

When she bought a house, Percival will always treasure the look on Lamorak’s face when she showed off his room to him. She hung up everything that was deemed important to them; every drawing, everything letter that they wrote to one another when they had to part ways for a bit. Lamorak even learned how to sew and made blankets and clothing.

Percival still has the first sweater that Lamorak ever made her.

She watch from a hill wearing that same sweater as Lamorak and Galahad played down below. Lancelot and Gawain are sitting around her, chatting quietly and enjoying the sun. She could almost imagine King Sonic sitting with them, loudly talking about whatever and showing off whatever he made for them that day. Though he isn’t here anymore.

No one knows where Sonic ran off to.

Lancelot said that when Camelot needs him again, Sonic will come running back.

Percival smiles softly as the two boys roughhouse and suddenly she’s running down the hill. She knocks into her brother, laughter double over, as Percival joins in their make-shift game.

She remembers the day that she met Lamorak but she also remembers the days following. Where Lamorak grew into a brave knight and her little brother. Those are the days that she hold dear.

Notes:

Didn't plan on adding more to this world but couldn't help myself.

I guess Gawain is next after this.

Hopefully, you enjoyed and have a wonderful day/night!
