    No one was safe when the king got bored. Of course, the castle had multiple jesters and performers to entertain the patrons of the party, but even through his helmet, Lancelot could see the Arthur's finger's fidgets with his cape, viridescent eyes scanning the room for any excitement. In hopes of keeping out of trouble, Lancelot turned his attention towards the dance floor where his king should've been flirting with eligible young woman and dancing the night away. He'd been on the wrong end of Arthur's boredom a couple of times and it wasn't always enjoyable. The azure hedgehog was a wonderful leader and ruled with kindness, but his mischief was well-known among the castle staff.

    Being king meant he could do what he liked without repercussions and he had a terrible habit of abusing that fact. Whether it was merely giving the kitchen staff insane orders for food, goading jesters into mildly horrifying feats, or more salacious acts that Lancelot didn't want to think about.

    Especially when a voice purred his way, "Lancelot, you're not joining in the festivities?"

    Sonic gently lays a hand over the cold pack and Shadow stiffens. “You gotta relax or you're really gonna wake up with a sore neck ‘n shoulders tomorrow and trust me, that's totally no fun.”

    It's not like he can sleep like this. Not with the strange off-kilter feeling from the painkillers, the headache, the way he still feels nauseous without actually feeling like he's going to throw anything up. Shadow huffs and scowls at Sonic instead, his ears pressed back for good measure.

    Sonic laughs, hand moving to splay over Shadow's wrinkled snout. “You look like an angry little cat when you do that, man, it's kinda cute."

    Once White Space had crumbled, once the Time Eater had been defeated, Shadow had expected the rest of his Doom Powers to fade alongside them. They were powerful, sure, but he wasn’t eager to have to deal with them moving forward. For the most part, his Chaos abilities were enough to get the job done, and he mostly left it at that.

    Much to his dismay, however, the Doom Powers didn’t leave. They instead made themselves painfully obvious over the next week or so.

     

    Or: Shadow has to deal with the effects of his adventure in White Space, one at a time.
