Summary
After Kronika's defeat the forces of Earthrealm and Outworld are at peace; Kitana is the new Khan and peace has claimed the land, Cassie Cage as Commander of Earthrealm forces has seen that such peace continues by the combined effort of both realms that now founds itself in neutrality.
As peace and calm sets in the worlds, Cassie's struggles to manage the mourn for her mother that she was never given the chance to process, the pain of losing not only her mother but her hero. Mourning her fellow soldier is something she had come to expect ever since she was young, but to be robbed of that by the appearance of a younger version of her deceased mother throws the effort she had just gathered; now faced with feelings she never expected Cassie now does to the best of her abilities to keep going, as to what goal that is even that's uncertain for her.
