Dealing with his loss

Summary:

Todoroki leans his head against the window quietly suffering on his own, waiting for his Sunshine to come back to him.

Work Text:

.The Glass of the window gets foggy as he exhales a warm breath against it. His forehead touches the cold glass, his head feeling to heavy to hold it up.
His eyes wander to look outside over the still foggy part of the window. He watches the people walking down the sidewalk, talking on the phone, carrying bags from one place to another, holding some ones hand in theirs. He longs for this. For something normal. Something everyone seems to have except for him. The possibility seems so far out of reach after he realized what happened. When the news reached his ears he kind of lost it.
He wanted to be alone to come to terms with everything first before facing anyone. He seated himself on the windowsill afterwards and didn´t move an inch. He bend his knees and stared outside. He wonders how it came to this. What did he do wrong to suffer this much. Could he have prevented it if he noticed just a little sooner? Probably not. When he noticed it was already far too late. Even if he came a few minutes earlier, it would have already been to late.

He inhales deeply and holds his breath for a moment before releasing his breath again.

Turning his head away from the window he looks around his apartment.
His Couch, still as messy as before, blankets and pillows randomly thrown onto it. The armchair looks exactly the same. The coffee table is full of unfinished paperwork, he just couldn't bring himself to do anything. Then in front of the Couch is the TV, dust piling on it since he couldn´t bring himself to clean anything.
When he turns his head a little bit more to the side, he can see the entrance to the kitchen and the two bowls on the floor, one filled with water the other filled with cat food. Thinking about cats, where is Soba? Not moving from his place he looks around the best he can. Trying to find his beige and black cat. From the corner of his eye he can see movement and he turns his head a little more and, yes, there she is. Her mismatched eyes watch him skeptically, as if trying to find out what has happened. After a while she seems to just not care enough to find out after all and turns around. Turning her butt towards him and walking away.

He sighs once more.
His cat turned her back on him.
What a cruel creature she is. He doesn´t blame her though. He rescued her and she has trust issues. She isn´t one to cuddle with anyone, even though he would really enjoy a cuddle right now.

He stretches his legs out and notices how much they hurt from sitting in this position for so long. Standing up his back and butt hurt even more. He decides to stretch his body a little before walking into the kitchen and making himself a tea. He feels cold and craves something warm. He boils some water and gets himself a cup and teabag. Pouring the hot water over the leaves inside the bag, the water turns into a pink color and it starts to smell like vanilla and strawberries. He takes the cup, not minding the burning feeling on his hands, and sits himself down on the couch. He sets his cup down on the small table in front of  him after making a little space on it so he wouldn´t place his cup on any paperwork.

He wonders if he should watch a little TV, maybe his mood would better itself while not thinking about everything that happened.

He decides against it though. Imagining to see somebody happy, even if it was just a movie or something. He doesn´t want that, he just wants to drown himself in self pity and try to accept what happened. It won´t be easy to get over this, but he suffered through worse. This little thing won´t hold him back. At least, once he got over it, then it won´t hold him back. Right now it will and does.

He takes sip of his still too hot tea and burns his tongue, he still takes another and another though.

Time flies past him it seems. At least that what it feels like. It probably hasn´t even been an hour. Turning his head he looks at the clock, yes, he was right, it has been just 20 minutes.
He turns his head back around and stares blankly ahead until he hears it.

A key gets inserted into the lock of his door. He listens quietly, waiting for what´s to come.
The door opens but he doesn´t turn his head to look at who entered the apartment.
He hears how shoes hit the floor and he listens to sock clad feet walking towards him. He hears the rustling of a paper bag and how the feet stop behind him.
He feels how strong arms wrap over his shoulders and how hands lock over his chest. He feels lips on his neck and breath in his hair.

"Don´t be sad anymore" a rough voice mumbles in his ear after leaving a kiss just behind it.

A big hand softly touches his cheek and turns his head to the side to leave a kiss on his lips. The hand still on his chest moves away from it and the man behind him reaches down, he grabs something and the hand returns and drops something on his lap.

"I got you a replacement, two to be exact, so don´t be sad anymore"

He turns his head and looks down onto his lap. The Paper bag he heard sits there, waiting for him to open it.
The man behind him walks around the couch and seats himself next to him, pressing a kiss to his cheek once he makes himself comfortable.
He opens the bag in his lap and stares inside and immediately a smiles forms on his lips. All sadness forgotten as he grabs one of the chocolate cupcakes and takes a bite out of it. Humming he leans his head against his husbands shoulder.

He feels another kiss pressed onto his head this time.

"Thank you Katsuki"

"Your welcome, but I can´t believe that you acted this way because of a stupid cupcake, fucking hell, the line at the bakery was so long"

"Don´t let Denki eat my cupcake next time then!"

"I didn´t notice it okay? I don´t have eyes on the back of my head alright?!"

Not minding the volume of his husbands voice, he leans more into him and feels how strong arms once again wrap around him.

"You are so lucky I love you, Shou"

"I love you too, Kat"

Enjoying the embrace he munches happily on his cupcake with a smile on his lips.
