Chapter Text
It has seen things.
It has seen great beasts conquered, seen small things consumed to become whole again, seen the absorption of matter recycled and suns rise and set a million different places.
It has seen many things. Growth, decay, birth, death, it has taken part in many of the rituals of the earth surrounding it. Mostly, though, it has been beneath the surface, scouring the caverns of the deep, discovering as the world around it took new shape and form. It saw, yet not quite comprehending for it simply accepted the change as it occurred.
It has been here, among the trees and the caves and the dirt and the damp for as long as it could remember, traveling endlessly and learning more.
It doesn't know when It happened, but one day, it could feel a shift in the world that it dwelled, and suddenly, there were.. others. Not like the ones it would find when it would wander across the plains, with the strange speech that would shoo it away when it wandered too near.
The others, these new ones, were composed of the same basic shape, but the colors of the first new one were bright, almost unsettlingly so. It had never seen a color like that, and it wore a smooth circle of white where the face should've been. It stayed far away from Circle, which it mentally dubbed the strange one, while still watching(always watching).
Soon after, it noticed an entourage of others appear, some with wide, unblinking eyes, others with fire licking at the edges of their figure, some with colored fabrics around their faces or green like the exploding creatures that it tended to avoid, but regardless, there was new life here. It heard the names Dream, George, Sapnap, Bad, Ponk, Sam, Allyssa, and a handful of others.
It didn't mind the new life, indifferent to these things. It had seen many new things, after all, and these would end the same as all the others. It continued to watch as they built things it hadn't seen, and said words it hadn't heard, and it learned from them as they lived.
This went on for a while, it steadily processing and understanding and changing in many ways. It even started to try and form its own limbs to match the bipedel creatures it saw. These creatures were.. strange. Sure, there were scuffles which it assumed would end in cycles ending to start new cycles of life, but strangely, there seemed to something holding these strange creatures back.
It wanted to learn more, but it lingered at the edges. It was satisfied with watching. The creatures would make sounds, loud or harsh or wheezing or hushed, but always filled with an emotion it had never seen displayed. It heard one of the beings call it 'laughter'. It liked laughter, it supposed, or seemed to at least be drawn to the sound, trying to pay more attention to how it was caused.
It followed and observed and developed, but after a point, things started to slow down. Until one day, a tall, scrawny creature appeared in a flurry of excitement and energy and noise and suddenly things started moving very, very quickly.
With the new one, which it heard called Tommy, came others, and the tall one stuck with a shorter one(Tubbo), near inseparable and causing chaos where they went, the land simmering with an undercurrent of energy that hadn't been there before.
Then, following this development, there was another addition; a lanky, tall person with curly brown hair and a smooth voice who harnessed the energy, funneling it into a small patch of land that it had passed by before. This one was called Wilbur, the revolutionary as he called himself, who had offspring, Fundy.
With this new development, a tension started to build. The previous lighthearted tone shifted to something darker, dangerous, and suddenly, the bloodshed that it had been surprised hadn't occurred earlier arrived in full-bloom. It learned from hushed conversations what was now occurring: War. The fighting went on and on, it watching all the while.
It saw what was called betrayal, it saw what was called freedom, it saw regrowth. Some new people joined(Jack Manifold, Niki) and it saw politics, though it understood less of that and more-so understood the outcasting of the previous founders of the 'nation', saw the one they call 'Quackity' holding the hand of who they call Schlatt, saw them kiss, saw Schlatt hit the other, saw the other stick around until suddenly, tension snapped with the releasing of a taut bowstring and an arrow in Schlatt's heart.
It saw Quackity join the revolt in Pogtopia, saw an attempt at peace marred by a madmen's words and the eventual death of a nation, with the figurehead dead with it. It saw regrowth, tenuous peace, a nation rebuilt with a child at the head, and another child grieving and lashing out and it watched a house burn down and a choice being made.
It saw the struggle within the country. It saw the struggle across the sea. It saw two lonely boys pushed to points they shouldn't've until they snap. It saw shaky alliance, it saw bitter betrayal, it saw lashing out and the resulting utter destruction of ideals and land. It saw friendships torn and it saw friendships made and it saw people drift apart and people return to each other.
So many people bleeding, so much death, so much hurt. Those trivial things didn't seem like much to it. It had seen it all before. It tended to follow Quackity more often than not, intrigued by the other. It didn't understand most of what it saw, but it saw much nonetheless.
It saw the events leading to the scar over Quackity's face, and it saw how Quackity spiraled. It saw when Quackty of New L'manburg changed into Quackity of El Rapids, into Quackity of Las Nevadas. It saw happy moments and sad moments and love turning into hate.
It saw many other things, but it stuck around Quackity. Which is how it saw Quackity rigging explosives into a restaurant that he owned, before it saw Quackity seeing it. Huh. It couldn't feel pain in the sense of 'Oh, ow, that hurt,' though that is not to be confused with it could not feel. After all, it very much could feel Quackity's fist crashing into what it had modeled to resemble a face. It gained primary awareness in a dry hole made of what was called sand, barricaded in with some stone slabs.
It looked up and saw what it now knew was Quackity, as it soon realized.
And thus, the start of one of the few things it had not yet experienced began.
