“Come on, let me see…” A gentle shove from Vi sent Caitlyn chuckling. It was one of these early mornings, where they would cuddle for hours before starting their day. But today’s a bit different; it was early spring and it meant the start of freckles season.
“Absolutely not. From now on, you are the big spoon, no exceptions.” Vi turned away from Cait, slightly covering her face with the blanket. The whole situation made Cait understand that she did make the right decision in dating the brawler. Such moments made her soft and she’d kill for them to never end.
“And I thought you said that your leg feels sore when you don’t elevate it in your sleep, huh.” Caitlyn teased. She moved closer to her girlfriend, wrapping her arm around Vi’s muscular torso. Zaunite mumbled something under her breath and Cait peeked over her to take a look at her face. Vi was noticeably flushed and it made the sheriff giggle. “What’s so horrible about freckles, sweetheart?”
Vi groaned, “Everything!”
“I disagree.”
“Well yeah, you don’t have any, so you don’t understand the pain.”
“You’re so dramatic, my god.” Cait reached out to cup Vi’s cheek and moved the blanket away from her lover’s face. Once she did, Vi’s eyes met Cait’s, noticeable annoyance in gray ones disappeared in an instance and got replaced by the soft lovable playfulness. A warm smile plastered across Cait’s face as she started tracing her thumb across small freckles all over her girlfriend’s cheekbone. She couldn’t stop herself from giggling. Vi looked especially pretty in the sunlight that was peeking through the window right now.
“Cupcake, these are just freckles, they aren’t anything that cool as you think,” Vi scratched the shaved side of her head. She liked the attention from Caitlyn, but at the same time she was slightly annoyed it was because of them. Vi knew only one person who looked cute with freckles, it being her sister when she was a kid.
“Vi, you have to be kidding me because you look incredibly cute with them. They are freckles! Of course they are cool!”
“That’s a bummer, because you ain’t getting to see any,” with these words, Vi slid off the bed and headed in the direction of exit of their shared bedroom. She would really appreciate some toast over this dumb conversation about her dumb freckles. “I’m starving, you know. I had a bagel for dinner yesterday and nothing else. I’m about to eat everything in the fridge.” Vi turned around right before opening a door and crossed her arms at the chest. Cait had a smug smile on her face, thinking of a joke she could crack right now but Vi stopped her before she did. “Don’t.” She said stiffly and exited the room.
Cait rolled her eyes and dug her face back into the pillows, getting the bliss out of an extra 5 minute nap while Vi cooked the breakfast. Caitlyn didn’t mind Vi being so reserved with her freckles right now, because no matter what she’ll get another opportunity to see them.
