Tears roll down Roier’s cheek when Cellbit finally closes his eyes and his hand goes limp against the tight grip. Even though he knows his husband will wake up in a few seconds at the red team’s spawn, it feels too real. His betrayal, the sword impaling the love of his life, the sickening smell of blood, the tears on his cheek. Cellbit, dead because of him. It all feels too real and Roier can’t get the image out of his head.

Outside, it has started raining, the rain broadening from a drizzle to a storm in a matter of seconds, the sky going dark. He clears his throat. "That is not all, I'm afraid. I believe the defendant and you are familiar with each other."
Clorinde's lips are already forming her name.
"Navia is being prosecuted for conspiring to traffick Sinthe. She has chosen to prove her innocence in a duel."
A year after Clorinde kills Navia's father in a duel, she is poised to do the same to Navia.

“My mother died before I could meet her,” Navia reminds her.
At the same time, Clorinde also says, “My master left on my tenth birthday, and my parents were not present in my life.”
Furina grumbles something like, “Touché,” under her breath.
Or, Clorinde and Navia didn't think that they would face parenthood (so soon, or at all), but here they are.

Clorinde, her heart bared for Navia and her eyes shining more pathetically than anyone else in the world. She’s like a little kicked dog, looking up with the lightest of pouts and her breath held in silent question. Her eyebrows tilt up as if asking Navia for the world and Navia hates how her chest clenches at the simple recognition that this is the woman who killed her father.
