   The same day they put his daddy in the ground, Jack sends Ennis a postcard.

   As soon as the preacher finishes his sermon, Jack presses a kiss to his mama’s hand, loads up in his piece of shit truck and heads down to the post office, slaps one of the last two nickels he’s got to rub together down on the counter and mails out a postcard that’s four years overdue.
