Work Text:
A knock sounded on the door of the Ko residence.
“Oh- Yurim-ah! Could you get that?”
Yurim closed her book and got out of bed, obeying her moms request “Sure!” she yelled back, placing her book on her desk before she exited the room.
Stuffing her hands in her pockets and walking quickly to the door, Yurim shivered at the feeling of the cold atmosphere that rested in the front room of their house.
She took in the sound of harsh pattering noises that could be heard from outdoors.
‘Rain.’ Yurim thought to herself.
Approaching the door, Yurim reached out her hand, unlocking and opening the only barrier between her and the person behind it.
Yurim looked up, meeting eyes with the person she had lest expected to see.
“Heedo-ya?”
The sight of her girlfriend, Heedo’s sad, teary eyes, expressionless face and rain soaked clothes made Yurim’s stomach drop.
“What’s wrong? Are you okay?” Yurim asked frantically grabbing Heedo by the arms and pulling her inside before shutting the door.
“Come on.” She dragged Heedo away from the front of their house and into her room. “Let me get you some clothes to change into.”
Yurim rummaged through her closet and pulled out a pink pajama set that featured unicorns galloping around on rainbows. ‘That’ll have to do’ she thought before handing them to the girl in front of her.
“I’ll leave the room so you can get changed.” Yurim explained “Can I tell my mom that you’re here? She might even make us something special to eat tomorrow if she knows you’re over.”
Heedo gave Yurim a consenting nod, and Yurim left the room, closing the door softly behind her.
Yurim quickly shuffled to her moms open room, knocking on the door frame to get her attention “Umma,” her mom looked up expectantly “Heedo’s here.”
“Really? Why?” Her mom asked, curiously.
“I’m not sure” Yurim shrugged “But I gave her some clothes to wear. She got soaked out in the rain.”
“I bet…” Yurim’s mom frowned “Tell her she should stay the night, okay?” Yurim nodded in understanding before turning around to go check on Heedo.
Getting to her room’s closed door, Yurim knocked “Heedo-ya, can I come in.”
Heedo opened the door in response and Yurim walked back in, shutting it behind her.
A small frown formed on Yurim’s lips as she noticed Heedo’s meek posture.
“What’s wrong Heedo-ya?”
At the sound of her girlfriend’s soft and loving tone, Heedo broke down. Tears flooded her eyes and loud sobs wracked through Yurim’s room.
“Oh, Love…” Yurim pulled Heedo into a tight hug and the latter cried harder, hiding her face in the crook of Yurim’s neck.
They stood, hugging in the middle of Yurim’s room for what felt like an eternity before Yurim felt her legs start to get tired. She realized Heedo felt the same way when she began getting heavier, using Yurim to keep standing
“Heedo-ya, let’s lay down, okay?” Yurim felt Heedo nod and she guided them to her bed before gently lowering Heedo onto it.
Yurim pulled the blankets over Heedo and kissed her forehead before laying down next to her and sliding under the covers. Heedo rolled over and latched on to Yurim’s side, her sobs beginning to stop entirely.
Once Yurim was sure Heedo had finished crying, she decided to try and get some kind of explanation, “Did something happen, Heedo-ya?” she asked.
Heedo nodded and took a deep breath “I… I got in a fight with my mom again.” she said shakily.
“Can you tell me what it was about?” Yurim proceeded, reaching her arm over Heedo to rub her back softly.
“My dad.” Heedo said simply, feeling more tears threaten to spill from her tired, bloodshot eyes.
At the mention of Heedo’s dad, Yurim knew it was time to stop asking questions, and start trying to comfort her girlfriend. She pulled Heedo closer and placed soft kisses on her face and forehead, knowing that soft type of affection helped soothe her girlfriend.
“Yurim…” Heedo choked out through her sobs “I really need to hear your voice right now.” she cried.
“Okay, sure.” Yurim said quietly “I- can I try singing to you.” she asked, slightly embarrassed.
Heedo nodded and held Yurim tighter. Yurim took a deep breath before singing the song that helped her through the toughest nights, and hardest struggles.
“Just like star dust ” Yurim sang shyly “we’re scattered pieces in the universe~” she continued.
The soft voice of one of Heedo’s favorite people calmed and relaxed her mind and body.
Yurim kept singing, although she stumbled over the words every once in a while, and soon enough, Heedo’s crying had stopped.
Looking down at her girlfriend, Yurim smiled, noticing she had fallen asleep. Soon her expression turned to sadness, remembering why she was even in this situation to begin with.
“Na Heedo,” Yurim said quietly “You don’t deserve any of this.” she kissed Heedo on the top of her head
“Sleep well, my love.” Yurim whispered before closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep, holding, consoling, the person who had done the same for her a thousand times over.
Yurim was infinitely thankful for her girlfriend, and could only hope she would continue finding comfort in the warm body and sweet voice of herself.
