Summary
Hypatia awoke to birdsong and pale, early light filtering across her face, tucked into the pocket-like fork where three thick limbs converged in the great oak's crown, like a fairy princess. Except that the birdsong was obnoxious, half of her joints were stiff and achy, and she still smelled faintly of urine. Also, there's the fact that she was a boy when she went to sleep. Sort of. Awake and rested (marginally), her mind was now functioning properly (as much as it could, with whatever had been done to her to erase her memories) and the strange disconnect she felt the night before upon realizing that she was not, in fact, a boy was absent. Or at least, not pronounced enough to register. Being a girl was fine, or it would be if she weren't locked in with a bunch of pent up, hormonal teen boys with no supervision.
On the upside, they all thought she was one of them.
