Work Text:
Jed was a regular customer. You would say that you memorized his order, but it was physically impossible. He ordered something different every time. The reporter always found a way to keep you on your toes. Sometimes he'd be in a rush to get to work, other times he'd sit and talk with you for hours.
You had a night shift, which meant sitting by yourself for four hours then closing and cleaning, because what psychopath would go to a café at 11pm.
Ding
You hear the door chime and your head snaps up. In walks the one and only Jed Olsen. "Hey! Sorry I didn't check in on ya today. I thought I'd pop in to see if you were on shift this morning, but you weren't there. Glad I caught you." You smile up at him, he laughs awkwardly.
"It's no problem Jed, it can get a bit boring here all by myself. Anything I can get you or did you just come to appreciate my handsome face?" He smiles and looks down at the vast amount of pastries on display.
He thinks for a moment before grinning. "I don't think I can decide. Maybe just get me one of everything." You blink at his unwavering confidence with his decision.
"Is this a ploy so you can have an excuse to hang here longer?" His grin widens, giving you all the answers you need. "Don't you have, like, a dog to take care of or something?"
"Nope! Completely alone back at my place. You could come see if you want." He winks at you as you start to tap at the cash register.
Scoffing, you open the doors to the display, taking one of everything out of it. "Haha, very funny. I can tell you're tired, you always get all flirty when you're tired. That'll be $35.57."
"Aww, you pay attention to me." Giving you puppy dog eyes, he takes out his wallet and hands you the exact amount.
"Dude, did you have the money ready? I was right! You just want to bother me." Rolling your eyes, you put the money in the register.
"Bother isn't the word I would use, love." He sits down at the table as you walk out from behind the counter to join him. "Anyway, any plans tonight?"
"Yeah, close up, go home, and sleep." He pouts, shoving a cinnamon bun into his mouth. You take a muffin and start to eat it with a bit more manners. "Why? You want to close with me and do something?"
He perks up at your 'offer'. "Uh, yeah! Well- I mean- Sure, if you insist." You chuckle, grabbing another pastry.
"Ok, Romeo, what do you have in mind?"
"Wha- Really?"
"I mean, sure, I got nothing better to do."
"Well, uhm, I rented a DVD of the original Halloween.."
"Sounds like a plan, dork."
