Work Text:
Diluc silently pads across the bedroom, careful not to rouse Kaeya as he slips under the covers of the bed. He scoots up to Kaeya and places a hand on his waist before pressing his face into Kaeya’s neck and nuzzling into his hair.
Kaeya makes a soft noise in his sleep. Diluc automatically hums in response, hoping to soothe his lover.
Diluc needs this closeness, craves it constantly throughout the day until he can sneak back to Kaeya’s side and feel his body pressed warm against his chest. They don’t see each other much during the day—it wouldn’t be appropriate, considering the secrecy of their relationship.
Diluc knows it’s better to keep their relationship quiet, at least for now, but it’s still painful to keep his distance in public. When he sees Kaeya chatting with the other Knights across the city plaza, all Diluc wants to do is rush to his side and throw an arm around his waist in possessive jealousy. When Kaeya enters the Angel’s Share, Diluc has to hold his tongue from calling his usual greeting of, “Welcome back, my love.”
Diluc needs to be close. He needs his reassurance. He needs to know that it’s not a pathetic dream he lives in, but that this is real, that Kaeya loves him and wants him and forgives him for all his past sins, terrible as they are.
He pulls Kaeya close and softly kisses his neck. Though he tries to be gentle, Kaeya stirs from sleep and makes another soft noise.
“Diluc?” Kaeya’s voice is groggy, barely audible.
“I’m here, my love.”
Kaeya rolls over and wraps his arms around Diluc, cuddling into his chest. “You’re late…”
Diluc kisses his forehead and murmurs, “I know. I’m sorry.”
“I forgive you,” Kaeya teases, a smile ghosting across his lips.
Diluc tips Kaeya’s chin up so he can press a soft kiss to his lips.
The single kiss turns into another, and for a moment they lazily, sleepily kiss each other. Kaeya’s mouth is warm and inviting, lulling Diluc into a heavy satisfaction. The room is filled with the quiet sounds of smacking as their kisses heat up and Kaeya slowly licks at Diluc’s tongue with his own.
Kaeya’s hand languidly curls into Diluc’s hair. Everything is warm, slow, and heavy, and even the burning tug of want in Diluc’s gut is settling into a pleasant thrum.
Their lips part. They breathe together, breath hot against each other’s mouths. Kaeya lazily grinds forward against Diluc’s hips, though it’s less of an invitation and more a show of thanks.
Diluc kisses Kaeya’s nose. “Go back to sleep, my love.”
“Mm, mhmm,” Kaeya hums.
They settle against each other, fitting perfectly together. Diluc strokes Kaeya’s hair as happiness roots in his chest and blooms throughout his body.
Kaeya drifts off quickly, and Diluc, soothed by his lover’s presence and the even in and out of his breath, soon follows.
