Chapter Text
PRESENT DAY
“NEAL!” You call, running towards where he stands waiting for you in the pickup for international flights. You dump your things, uncaring of if they get bent or broken, in favor of pulling your boyfriend into a big embrace and burying your face in his shoulder. You’re both back in New York—this time, to stay.
When you two pull back from each other, Neal takes the opportunity to bring you into a kiss, filled with only half the longing of the years on both your parts. Pulling back once more, you turn to where Moz and Peter stand, your boss and your boyfriend’s best friend watching with grins at the reunion.
Peter steps forward, hand proffered to shake, but you ignore it in favor of a hug—far more platonic than the one with Neal. “Good to have you back, Y/l/n.”
“Good to be back. How’s El?”
“She’s good. Mad about being on bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy.”
“And how’s Tiny Neal? He excited about the new addition?”
“More mad than anything else.” Peter chuckles. “He wanted another dog instead.”
You laugh as well. “Understandable.” With that, Peter steps back and you turn to Moz. “Mozzie.” You don’t hug him, respecting his personal space. Some days are better than others for him and you don’t know how this one is going on his part. Instead, you offer a bright smile. “I’ve missed you.”
Moz manages his own half-smile at you, both at your respect of him and your greeting. “Yeah, yeah. Missed you too, Mrs. Fed.”
You chuckle at that, knowing it’s his version of ‘Mrs. Suit’ for you. “Laugh it up, Moz.” Turning back to Neal, you loop your arm through his, before facing the rest of the group. “So, where to next?”
Peter winces. “El is going to kill me if I don’t bring you by the house next, so…”
“To the Suit residence it is,” Neal agrees after glancing at you to make sure you’re good with that, teasing smirk plastered on his face and aimed at both his friends.
You echo him, smiling wider than you thought possible. “To the Suit residence it is.”
