Summary
Maximilian Wihtgar (Esq.)'s greatest goal in life is to be left alone in his ramble-down mansion on the sea coast. But apparently, this is too much to ask. After Aethelwold (an old school "friend") inveigles his way into receiving an invitation for the night, more mysterious guests start appearing, to Wihtgar's increasing chagrin.
But when he decides to give in and make a game of toying with them all, he finds his motive lies closer to Aethelwold's own than he could have imagined.
