    Teddy was the first to catch on. Gordie and Chris had always been close, but things had shifted recently. Gordie looked at him longer, held him tighter, flushed a deeper shade of pink when he stood a few inches too close. Teddy had heard about what Gordie was- on TV, or in mumbled, vague complaints from his father about the devil-worshiping faggots he seemed sure were determined to destroy the American way.
