The sky was painted with its vibrant hues, from rosy pinks to the passionate reds, all were welcome to encompass its heavenly plane. As the sun had prepared to lay and rest, xyx had walked along the warm silver pavement, steps as light as a feather with a bouquet of lilies in hand.
The streets had flowers in every corner for it was a celebration of spring, the time when everything was in bloom, from the loveliest of flowers on the emerald floor to the love that had filled the air.
He had plans to surprise his lover with flowers as lovely as them, though in his humble opinion, they were far lovelier than any rose decorated with a late summer’s dew. The rose would always pale in comparison, especially when their cheeks shone with a crimson hue.
He would be willing to write a novel larger than any holy sacrament, each page more poetic than the last, why, even Shakespeare would grow green with envy. But alas such words will forever stay within the confines of his journal, the one that is kept away from any foreign eyes, for which was only for his own.
Even his lover was not an exception. It was his garden of secrets and thoughts left unsaid, they were written and left forever to bloom within the pages. As you know sometimes we must have our outlets of thoughts, for they kept his whirlwind of thoughts at bay and at ease.
As he strolled beneath the great sky up above, he spotted a sight most familiar, Y/n, his love, his beautiful doll.
There they stood beside a pearl hotel that was showered in what appears to be citrus yellow roses, an uncommon colour to decorate the flower.
As he had sped towards their location, a sight most sour had appeared right before his lime coloured orbs. They were with another. A creature with locks of gold, so hauntingly beautiful, though to a stranger on the street said creature was a beguiling sight indeed, to him they left the worst taste in his mouth. As though he had swallowed the most bitter fruit.
As though the town had grown hellishly hot, his mouth ran dry, and he broke out in a furious sweat as rage boiled deep in his very heart and soul. Though he yearned to confront them, to demand explanations for the tender embrace they shared, to the kisses marred on their cheeks, he couldn’t.
Deep down, he knew he was unworthy, undeserving of the rose before him and the scent that enticed him so. Instead, he was left with blood on his hands as he grasped at what wasn’t meant to be.
A heavy sigh escaped his lips, his once light feet felt heavier than any boulder, even the task of the titan Atlas felt like a breeze compared to the heavy sorrow that he carried.
He grasped at what little composure he had and stormed off towards his bike, driving to what used to be their shared sanctuary, a safe space where they can relax together.
He couldn’t help but leave a dry chuckle at his misery. It seems he truly was meant to walk this earth alone.
…
“ Oh, Y/n! It’s so great to see you again, it has been too long, how have you been love?” The two friends embraced once more, something they hadn’t done since what felt like an eternity. They had grown up together in their shared neighbourhood, they witnessed each other’s best and worst moments, the highs and the lows, but, no matter what, their friendship had risen against the odds and it remained strong to this day.
“I have been doing great and now since you are here even better! I missed you so, how is your fiance doing?” They chattered till their throats ran dry and their voices grew raspy, the sheer volume of their shared excitement had flown like a sweet melody along with laughs so cheerful, tears of utter joy strolled down their rosy cheeks.
“ Damn! I can’t believe it’s seven already, I will have to whip up something quick for dinner, how about you come over tomorrow? I can finally introduce you to xyx!”
Their friend nudged their elbow into their side, a Cheshire grin making its way onto their face, it certainly didn’t help that their eyebrows had been raised at least a hundred times during the few moments of silence.
“Oh am I finally getting the opportunity to meet your loverboy? Truly a most gracious honour.” “Oh hush you, you aren’t one to talk, especially not when you get that doe look in your eyes whenever you-”
Light hits made their way onto Y/n’s back as they burst out in laughter with each hit, though with its impact it can hardly be classified as a hit, a strong pat would work best. As the two of them wiped their tears, distant memories resurfaced.
The nostalgia of those summer nights under the stars, each one outshining the other as the sweet taste of lemonade lingered on their lips. The plush comforter served as a shield from the potential grass stains, something their mothers surely wouldn’t be happy about, as they laid in a star shape beside one another, not daring to move an inch, fearing the loss of comfort and the softness of the shield beneath.
Their ( insert colour) eyes glistening with the setting of the sun from the fond memories of home, though they both had left their hometown, the memories would always remain, and with urgency, they hugged them tightly, as though they would lose them if their grip loosened even a bit.
“ I missed you so much, thank you for coming here.” They returned y/n’s hug, embracing themselves in the warmth of their deep bond, knowing nothing would keep them apart.
…
As they opened the door, greeted by Cat’s fluffy fur brushed along their leg, desperately searching to be pet and embraced by their beloved owner. As they placed the elegant creature onto their chest, softly petting their petite head, they pondered about the lack of lights, surely xyx was home by now.
“ Darling, I’m home, are you there?” Their question was met not with an answer, instead, a solemn silence greeted them, soon, their thoughts turned for the worst, their skin had been marred with many goosebumps along their arms, the hairs rising upwards to the sky.
Soon, much to their relief, soft shuffling could be heard along the ivory carpet of the shared bedroom.
Xyx’s eyes contrasted a haunting and saddening look between the red veins and his green iris, he looked as though he died in between the numerous tears shed. Quickly they let down the fuzzy feline, embracing their lover, but a feeling most unfamiliar and foreign had been felt, he pushed them away.
“L-love?”
“ Don’t you ‘love’ me, you should’ve stayed in that hotel, I have no energy nor patience to talk to you.”
Confusion was written across their face, they looked at him as though he were a madman, the silence in the air grew with each passing second, the tension so thick a clever would be most useful.
“ What? What hotel? Look I’m sorry for upsetting you but I have not one clue about what you are talking about.” “No huh? What were you also confused and clueless when you kissed the stranger, embracing them as though the two of you are familiar, I’m not naive and you know that.”
Their heart shattered into pieces at the realisation of his accusation, he believed they were cheating.
Was the trust they shared so small? Did he trust them so little? All this time spent together and this is how he saw them, as a cheating lover, unfaithful to the one they love most, kissing strangers with the same lips that kissed his every night and day.
“ You thought I was cheating? You believed that while you are away I am out there sleeping with anything that breathes? I told you ( friend’s name) was coming to visit.” Their saddened gaze met the floor, all the excitement that was built during the day had vanished into thin air, and that broke him further than the sight from today.
Realization him hit like a truck, “Oh shit, I’m sorry.” He hid his face with his hands, not daring to look into their eyes, muttering and berating himself for his foolish thinking. They deserve better, he wasn’t enough, he never was and never would be because-
Soft hands held him as they pushed them away from his face, too shocked to speak he let them fall to the side as theirs began to caress his face, brushing away any locks that blocked the emerald jewels he beheld on his visage. “ It’s alright, I can’t lie and say it didn’t hurt me but, I don’t want you to berate yourself. It’s important we talk about this, and no I don’t deserve better because I want you. I stayed with you because I love you and this is just a rough patch we will break through, together. How about we stay in tonight hm? We can do whatever you like reading or-”
His body met theirs in a warm embrace, one that could have lasted a century and it would still feel too short, leaving them wanting more, soft sobs could be heard from him and to soothe away his sorrow they placed gentle pecks along his skin. Each kiss was as though it was a purifying potion, one replacing sadness or guilt with a love so innocent and kind it would last for ages.
“ I don’t deserve you, I know sorry can’t fix what you are feeling but-” Before he could utter any more words, they were stolen from his through a gentle kiss and neither seemed to mind.
“ Now why don’t we go watch a movie hm?”
Upon spotting the bouquet of lilies on the floor, they knelt and picked one of them out of the tight packaging, delicately tucking it behind his ear. “ Beautiful.” the words practically tattooed onto his skin as they muttered the word upon placing a gentle kiss on his cheek.
Although they were always the one to blush like a bouquet of roses, cheeks adorned with a crimson veil, now it was him who had the very same look he would spot on theirs.
“ I love you.”
“ And I you,” he muttered between each kiss they shared, “Always and forever.”
They held the same Cheshire grin their friend had, and soon he smirked back at them.
“ Promise?”
“Promise.”
