Work Text:

“Kids, if you would please form an orderly line, we can get started on the annual academic decathlon blood drive!” Mr. Harrington grinned. Peter didn’t know why the man was so excited to see all of them stabbed and then their blood siphoned away. Honestly, it was kind of messed up.

“C’mon, Peter! We’ve got to get in line!” Ned yanked him towards the front of the line that had yet to form. Before he knew it, Peter had filled out all the necessary paperwork, answered all the questions provided, and had his iron levels tested. Sadly, he was all set to start donating.

“Alright, honey. Can I get you to hop into this chair right here?” One of the nurses, Kelly, asked. He nodded slowly, hopping into the seat and laying back. Kelly handed him a stress ball and directed him to squeeze it five times and then hold. Grip tense on the ball, he could feel her searching for his vein before taking a purple pen and marking a spot.

“You’re doing a great job. All that’s left is for me to sanitize the area with an alcohol wipe and then I’ll get the needle in there and you can just sit and chill while your blood is being drawn. Does that sound good?”

“Y-yeah, as long as the needle’s not too big.”

“Oh, don’t worry. It’s a very reasonably sized needle. It’ll barely feel like a pinch,” Kelly smiled.

“Okay then, that sounds good,” Peter nodded. He flinched at the cold, wet touch of the alcohol wipe.

“Alright, honey. Can you squeeze the ball for me again? I just gotta get this little feller in there.”

Peter nodded, but then he made a grave mistake. He looked at the needle. It was definitely not a ‘little feller.’ It was a massive straw that was going to be stealing his blood. Next thing he knew, his eyes had rolled back and he had gone slack in the chair. Kelly looked up, shocked, when she saw him drop the ball. Sighing at his state, she went to notify the teacher.

“Excuse me, are you Mr. Harrington?” She asked.

“I am. Is everything alright?”

“Everything’s fine, but Peter Parker isn’t doing so well with the needle. When he wakes up, I’m going to sit him down with a cold compress. I was wondering if you could call a parent or guardian to pick him up?”

“Well, his aunt is probably at work, but I think he just had a secondary emergency contact put down.”

“Okay, when someone comes for him, can you send them back here to get him?”
“I will do that,” Mr. Harrington smiled.

“Thank you!” Kelly returned to Peter’s side in the van. She made it back just in time to find the boy stirring awake.

“Thanks for keeping an eye on him, Yvette.”

“Anytime, girl.”

“Peter, can you stand for me?”

The boy nodded and found his way to a semi-standing position. Kelly guided him down the steps back into the gym where the other students were waiting their turn. She got him all set up with a cold compress before leaving him in the capable hands of a girl named Michelle Jones.

“Are you okay, Peter?” MJ asked.

“M’fine, just got a problem with needles,” Peter shrugged. He was just getting comfortable when he heard two very familiar sets of feet making their way to the gym. He groaned, letting his head fall into his hands before the gym doors slammed open revealing a frazzled Tony Stark and an exhausted Morgan Stark.

“Where is he!” Tony shrieked, catching the attention of every student there. Peter immediately heard the whispers explode. In an attempt to put himself out of his misery, he raised his arm. Tony and Morgan weaved through the other students to him.

“Petey! A-are you o-okay?” Morgan stuttered.

“Yeah, Mo. I’m fine. Just a minor disturbance while donating blood. You know I don’t really like needles.”

“Are you a-allowded to donut spider-blood?”

“Donate, Mo, and I didn’t really think about that.”

“Peter, what does she mean by ‘spider-blood’?” Abe asked.

“Uhhhhhhhhh…”

“Are you Spider-Man!” Betty exclaimed.

“Oh boy,” Tony chuckled.

“Tony! This is not a laughing matter! My secret identity is on the line here!” Peter shrieked.

“Yeah, and with that reaction, it’s not really a secret anymore, loser,” MJ smirked.

“Ah, uhm, well, you see… the thing is?”

“Pete, bud. I don’t think you can bluff your way out of this thing.” Tony sighed.

“Ugh, fine. Please take me home, then. I can’t deal with questions right now.”

Tony complied, leading the boy towards the car.

“Does this mean Spider-Man’s afraid of needles?” Abe asked.
