Let The Gun and Spear do the Talking~
In the first place, this ditter was grossly unfair! Yet, due to precedent of defeating Dunklefelger with ownership of Schwarz and Weiss in stakes everyone seem to have forgotten Ehrenfest was battling against the military might of the country. It would be like fighting Napoleon’s army.
I regretted not rejecting it more firmly, or just fainted there and traumatized the entire dormitory of Dunklefelger just to drive home how unsuitable I was to live in Dunklefelger.
When I saw Lestilaut handily blocked attack after attack from their knights with his black shield and I began to panic even more. My Schutzaria's shield would be ineffective against Lestilaut, the shield would tear it like toilet paper!
It wouldn’t be long until he reached me , and then I wouldn't be able to see my family anymore! Just as I started to console myself that at least Dunklefelger had tons of books, I was reminded of her promise with Ferdinand to protect Ehrenfest at all cost! Not to mention, I would die if I married a duchy like Dunklefelger with this frail body!
“Lanze!”
Lestilaut laughed, “Turning the spear of Leidenshaft against a Dunklefelger, Lady Rozemyne?” He looked upon me with challenging gaze. Turning my Schtappe into Leidenschaft spear. If this was going to work, I am going to need to put as much power into this as possible, and even then, I doubt my Schtappe could even compare to a real gods tool from the temple...
So I filled up the spear with mana, blue electric current crackled through the spear like when I slew the winter lord. My hand struggling holding the spear, and I directed my gaze towards my prey.
“Are you serious?!”
Even so I wasn’t a heartless person who would aim at Lestilaut point blank so my aim was somewhere off by a few feet. Obviously Lestilaut didn’t expect the shield to not clash against my spear, and perhaps for a moment he wondered if my aim was that bad.
However the same howling sound of wind from the explosion created said even if it didn’t hit Lestilaut, the impact of the spear was enough to blast him away and his back hit several trees. I myself was able to hold on as Schutzaria’s shield blocked everything. Lestilaut for a moment didn’t move before standing up slowly with a very scary glare in his ruby like eyes.
“You-”
I panicked once more, and decided it was time for no hold barred approach. “I am Ferdinand’s disciple, and I will stay in Ehrenfest to protect his Geduldh at all cost! I am sorry!” Chugging down super terrible mana recovery potion from my waist, I summoned not one but two Schtappe. “Water Gun! Please survive!”
“Damn it!” Lestilaut cursed as he dove for cover behind his shield.
The advantage of bullet made of mana was- there was no reloading the ammunition so I could fire as long as my capacity allowed. “Hit! Hit! Hit!” Imagined the bullet split to many homing arrow!
“Lord Lestilaut!”
“What the hell is that!”
I couldn’t see anything anymore in this dusty arena but Wilfried had not captured Hannelore so I had to kept Lestilaut away at all cost!
I chugged down another potion, keeping the shield up once more, I was nearing her limit and perhaps I shouldn’t take another potion. The dust cleared up, revealing Lestilaut holding the dark shield that was chipped at the edge here and there and he was limping.
“You are really… demon king’s disciple-”
“Don’t come any closer! If- if you do… you will die!” I was holding a gun, a magical one but the threat was very valid. “Stand down!”
Lestilaut chuckled softly, “No way… I am so close!” He began to run.
“Leidenshaft please!” I put all my prayers as I changed one gun to a spear and this time, putting all mana I have recovered to the spear. This time, no hesitation to aim it at Lestilaut, no more mercy!!!!
“Wai-” Lestilaut’s complexion changed.
At first it appears the shield will block my spear, unsurprising as i have nothing i could use against a real god's shield. as my hope fades, it all changes in an instant, all at once the shield starts changing colour to a lighter colour, then gold cracks start forming as an as the sound of breaking crystal fills the arena. I catch a slight glimpse of surprise in Lestilaut's eyes as the shield turns into gold dust, but is then immediately covered by a massive explosion of blue light. I also get knocked back a bit by this, but I ducked in anticipation of the aftershock.
As the light fades, I notice Lestilaut on the floor, badly burned and unconscious. With the strength I surprisingly still have I strike the finest praying pose. "Forgive me, Leidenschaft!” I uttered to the patron God of my birth season. “I'll never doubt you again! Praise the God of flame!" I shouted in celebration.
Everyone had stopped fighting after I barraged Lestilaut with magical bullets, Dunklefleger knights had became as blue as their cloak at the prone form of their heir. While her knights quickly form formation once again around her.
I then had a bright idea and silently apologized to Hannelore. “Freeze all of you!” Her gun was out once more and aimed at Lestilaut. “Surrender now, Dunklefelger! Or your heir will get it!”
“That’s- Lady Rozemyne, you… are holding our lord hostage?!” Exclaimed an archnoble I recognized as a classmate named Kentrips.
“Yes! If you don’t give up, he will be full of holes!” Never would I imagine threats from a B rated movie Urano’s mom liked in the past could be used for real.
Kentrips then ordered, “Evacuate our lord!”
“Do you want to bet who Steiferize favor more?” I fired a shot and this time the magic bullet landed near Kentrip’s feet. A perfect demonstration on who will reach Lestilaut first, and even nobles could outrun a bullet.
Maybe… grandfather could.
“Lady Rozemyne, we surrender!” Lady Hannelore exclaimed. “Everyone, stop! Don’t push Lady Rozemyne anymore!”
She had left her designated spot and at the same time a declaration from Professor Raufen ran through the arena. “Winner, Ehrenfest!”
I was so relieved and of course predictably I fainted on my feet. My aides panicked and decided to screw formality, a sentiment Dunklefelger shared as Lestilaut wasn’t in good condition either. When I woke up in the dormitory, Leonore informed me with a pale face that I was asleep the whole day. However that wasn’t the biggest problem they face now, turned out when I barraged Lestilaut with bullets I also hit sovereignty knights who barged into our ditter from who knows where.
They had been dealt with by Prince Anastasius himself.
Also while there was definitely no rule in the Bride Stealing Ditter about the bride attacking her suitor, I was the first in history who beat the challenger so badly. Charlotte, my angel had wisely inquired about Lord Lestilaut’s condition and Clarissa was sent to inform them. Lestilaut was thankfully alive, but he had a concussion- which was not the type of injury Heilschmerz could fix.
It was unknown when he would recover, but he had been sent back to Dunklefelger due to this ditter.
“...What should we do if Dunklefelger protest?!”
“They… won’t… according to Clarissa.” Apparently it was a normal thing to be that injured, especially considering the stake of this ditter. Lestilaut had apparently sign an equivalent of a waiver that he wouldn’t pursue responsibility or compensation fro any injury he suffer from this ditter.
“Oh okay then!” What else I could do, Dunklefelger was an upper duchy and if this was normal, it wasn’t a big deal. Lestilaut would be fine!
Sylvester was of course not impressed by my battle. Even more so when I narrate the ditter blow by blow and what led to the end result. “...So… you reject him by throwing Leidenshaft’s spear at him of all things then proceed to hold him hostage and demand surrender from Dunklefelger?”
“There’s no rule that says I can’t!”
“Your fathers here should be proud of what a heartbreaker you are but we won’t.” Sylvester groaned. “Seriously… you should go down in history for what you did, I can’t imagine a crueler way to reject someone’s proposal.” Sylvester had a thousand yard stare for some reason. “If I was Lord Lestilaut, I wouldn’t want to live anymore.”
I inwardly roll my eyes, “Oh my, adoptive father… surely you jest! Lord Lestilaut just want me for my fashion. He is not… well what mother’s novel says--- eh Bluanfa doesn’t dance!”
Both Sylvester and Karstedt sighed, “...you certainly learn Ferdinand’s ruthlessness.”
The* problem of course did not end there as during interduchy tournament, Aub Dunklefelger and his first lady intended to follow through with my ridiculous demand to get Hannelore as Wilfried’s second lady.
Wilfried’s opinion on the matter, “I feel really bad about how it end… Rozemyne is… I am sorry…”
Internal circumstances of Ehrenfest was explained, and how it was not a good idea at all for Hannelore to marry into their family even as second wife. While Hannelore and Wilfried could be a sweet couple, I was not willing to subject this cute friend to the mess their duchy had became after Ferdinand left.
“Lady Rozemyne tried her best… I don’t wish to disturb Ehrenfest, she is a very dear friend.”
“Lady Hannelore!” She was truly my dear book friend! I almost regret we couldn’t welcome such a precious lady to Ehrenfest, what an enjoyable days we could have surrounded by books!
Still… the ditter ended not in a good way but I learned that the water gun and Leidenshaft’s speare were trully the mightiest. Also, waiver was really good, it solved all the collateral damage ensued.
Understandably when Prince Anastasius held Ferdinand hostage and there was an unopened library, I returned to request his consent that I should not be held responsible for doing all I could to retrieve the Grutisheit they wanted. Once again there was no holding back, I first steal back Schwarz and Weiss when they lead me down once again then after asking them to look away cover them in Dark God’s mantle until their mana was no more.
Now with the extra mana in my body, I held a trusty water gun, uttered Dark God’s prayer and at a good distance shoot the seal until it broke apart. The seal was gone and I was free to waltz in as I pleased. I had to hurry as Anastasius no doubt would check on the commotion I caused. Inside the sealed archive, I found many slates of foundational magic Zent needed. And then a bracelet that looked very important, which must be what the royal family was looking for.
Wait- Ferdinand was hostage, there was no guarantee the royal family would just ignore their verbal promise. So it was fair if I held this hostage, right? Noble’s wide sleeve was very convenient at the time like this, wearing it up my arm I could hide it. The thing about the noble's propriety was- not even fellow ladies would pat her up and down. Also I was wearing plenty of amulets under her dress so one more won’t raise an alarm.
That was how I managed to smuggle the royal family’s treasure, and once I confirmed they would still try blackmailing me for more help after I showed them the room with foundational magic they needed, I knew I couldn’t give it up.
“So Ferdinand wouldn’t be returned to Ehrenfest yet?”
“Rozemyne…” Anastasius looked frustrated, “Anymore on this, I will take it disrespecting royal decree. Be glad I am this lenient due to your friendship with Eglantine.”
Apparently the royals were already impatient with her demands, and I was sure I was not giving into them any longer. “It seems Greifechan could no longer smile upon us.” Negotiation was over.
“Wai- wait- what Rozemyne, what do you mean?”
Later on I inform adoptive father that royal family was too unreasonable and acting like bloodsucking debtor for debt that didn’t even exist to begin with. The very same night, I read the ‘book’ of wisdom within the bracelet and was enlightened on why the royal family was not happy with what I left in the room. Turned out the tablets was to supply what was insufficient for their book and as there was no book to complete, the knowledge was pretty much useless. Especially since the nation-wide foundational magic needed Grutisheit.
I was still thinking on how to extort the royal family but one thing after another happened and I found myself once again at the negotiation table with the royal family. When Prince Sigiswald started spouting nonsense about Ferdinand taking responsibility his side locks fell to the ground and my water gun aimed at the royal family. Perhaps it's due to my imaging of real gun but my water gun was smoking.
“Ro-Rozemyne wai-”
I blew on the nozzle, “Anymore accusations against Ferdinand, bullets shall be on the menu for desert!”
“Lady Rozemyne, calm down!”
And that was how Royal Family swallowed her every demand, their title taken and demoted, Ferdinand was free from collective punishment and Ehrenfest get to keep our benefits. Then for the finale, I celebrate it by shooting their magical grutisheit full of holes until it crumbled to gold dust.
Victory to me!
“Rozemyne… lady do not point weapon at others like that.”
“It’s effective.”
It was said that The next Aub Dunklefelger, Aub Blumefelt, Aub Corinzandum and Zent’s prince consort were always respectful to Aub Alexandria and for some reason openly flinched whenever the beautiful Aub flicked her wrist.
