Work Text:
Shin Yooseung was the first.
The child waved to him while standing on a head of a huge monster species. Her smiling face was radiant even from afar. Kim Dokja also waved back to her.
Then, Shin Yooseung’s small body fell down in an instant.
Kim Dokja lowered his hand, but could not move from the place. One familiar system message came to his mind.
[The exclusive skill ‘Fourth Wall’ is strongly shaking.]
In the second dream, Jung Heewon came out.
Lee Hyunsung was holding up a shield, while Kim Dokja’s body was drenched in blood like a rag. He couldn’t even stand properly. Jung Heewon’s Hell Flame, which burned everything on the Earth, blazed dazzlingly before his eyes.
He remembered this scene. Was it from the first death?
Then the scene changed.
Jung Heewon was laughing at Kim Dokja who stood in front of her. He didn’t know what happened, but Lee Hyunsung seemed to be laughing too.
“… Hyunsung-ssi, aren’t you scared?”
“I’m not scared. Heewon-ssi is with you. I don’t have to lose my bullet shell anymore.”
The two disappeared before Kim Dokja’s eyes.
It was a completely extinction that left not even the smallest fragments.
Kim Dokja had a hunch. That even if he went to the Underworld, he would not find the souls of the two people.
This time, Kim Dokja didn’t cry. He didn’t even think of moving his body. It was Han Sooyeong who pulled him up.
Now was the third dream.
It was an extension of his last dream. Han Sooyeong, who carried Kim Dokja, ran like crazy between the collapsed buildings.
He also started using ‘Ways of the wind’. He passed through some familiar buildings and quickly noticed the other. Yoo Sangah was sitting between the debris with one hand holding on a side of her leg.
They exchanged some words that he didn’t quite remember. Then it was Han Sooyeong who talked.
“Hey, Kim Dokja. Go to the north. I’ll take care of things here. You must go to the north and meet Yoo Joonghyuk, you know?”
“Dokja-ssi, please go. If you go along the street, Yooseung and Gilyoung will be waiting… Ah! And, after this scenario is over, let’s have a party. Dokja-ssi, isn’t your birthday coming soon?”
Yoo Sangah told him with her usual gentle smile. The floor dyed red underneath her. Kim Dokja bit his lips, but quickly turned around.
He didn’t look back.
He didn’t cry,... could not cry.
At his fingertips, the crumbs of his narratives was crying on behalf of Kim Dokja.
Black wings spouted from his shoulders and horns rose above his head. The clouds covering the sky was dark enough to make the world looked gray.
Kim Dokja looked down at the roads of the north.
Only the broken buildings and the lifeless incarnations were seen. The hand holding ‘Unbreakable Faith’ was shaking.
He slightly clenched his fist. It was all Kim Dokja’s responsibility to endure these dreams.
“Ahjussi!”
Soon, he saw the children. Shin Yooseung and Lee Gilyeong ran towards him. He took a step and also ran towards them. At the same time, Lee Gilyeong screamed along with a horrible burst. Red blood splattered on his face.
In most dreams, Kim Dokja remained a bystander. Because of that, everything was crying on behalf of Kim Dokja.
The rain began to fall from the calm sky.
